Of course, I'm are very disappointed with this turn of events, Newton is only 80 miles from my home. It was going to be great having a second racing venue in Iowa this season. August 2, 2007 - Denver, CO: Iowa Speedway Canceled TrackAddix and Iowa Speedway have canceled the September 15th and 16th event due to scheduling conflicts. Iowa Speedway requested that TrackAddix release the date so they could fulfill an obligation to a primary sponsor. The Select Central Iowa Chevrolet Dealers will be hosting their annual open house and new vehicle introduction at Iowa Speedway and need the September 15th / 16th weekend for that important event. According to Dean Rumfola, President of TrackAddix, "We have many sponsors of our own and understand the importance of accommodating sponsor requests. We are happy to help and look forward to working with Iowa Speedway in the future." Mr. Rumfola also said, "It has been a long and challenging season for many racers, we considered moving the event to another venue, but decided racers might appreciate a break in the schedule so they can better prepare for the remainder of the season." |

Arghh! I was really looking forward to that. I sent an e-mail to TrackAddix back when I found out about it (after the MotoST race) and they said that they were reconsidering because of the Higbee crash. I figured it would get canceled, but not for a Chevrolet Open House. It sounds like the track management kindof screwed CCS by double booking. Oh well, maybe next year. |
