Weird, I've been looking at a couple of places in Sparta North Carolina. <grin> That's not that far from your place according to Google maps. I was looking for something with elevation due to my Astrophotography hobby and of course price. Smokedaddy & Jerry, My sister-in-law and her husband live close to there near Ennice, NC. They're only a couple of miles off the Blue Ridge Parkway and have been there about 10 years now. We visit at least once a year; I've ridden through Sparta a few times. Summers are unbelievably great; winter can evidently be pretty brutal. VERY windy are with a good bit of snow. From what they say it's a GREAT place to live for 3 seasons and it's tolerable for the winter. They tend to do their vacationing during the winter so they can spend time someplace warmer. They do really love living there though. BTW, that area is the very oldest section of the BRP, where it was first started. |

Somewhere I have a picture of my ST with that sign. Fine roads and fine people. FB, we will be in Asheville and points North and West starting next weekend for STAR 07. Maybe we could meet up and kick some tires, I think I owe you a cold one or three ;+}. Give me a shout or drop me a line. Neil S. |

Jerry, Cool shots. My sister-in-law's husband used to volunteer part time for the National Parks Service helping maintain things along the BRP. He pointed out that the stone walls on that section of the Parkway are laid without mortar. He HIGHLY recommends avoiding these walls on sunny days because rattlesnakes are notorious for crawling up into the cracks to rest.

Jerry, Thanks for the help and the offer. I am in no hurry at the moment as the market in Phoenix absolutely sucks and I am in a prime area. I do have 2 real estate places sending me information in the mail now and then. I should of said that I am in the looking, dreaming and wishing mode. However, if you are ever in the Sparta neighborhood I would really appreciate it if you would send me some pictures (as you see it). Cheers, -SD: |

There's a great feature article by Steve Natt in July's Motorcycle Consumer News about "How to Win Friends and Influence Sales" centered around an enthusiastic Buell dealer's perspective. When the general manager and sales manager get together to not just talk but to make happen track day events, we all should listen up and learn. THIS IS HOW IT SHOULD BE DONE!!! Give thanks to Mario, Ernie, Glendale (Ca.) HD/Buell and Hypercycle track day organizers for having the balls to pull this stuff off, lawyers be damned (figuratively?), and share a fun day in the life of a Buell club's track day at Willow Springs. It's a good informative read. |
