It's a three hour drive from Bakersfield so my son and I left early and got there just before 10am. GREAT TIMING!!! For an HOUR it was just me, my son, the 1125R and the cutaway! I poked, prodded, kicked the tires, sat on it, bounced it and then repeat sequence again, and yet again!!! Didn't see anybody technical from Buell but a few of the dealer staff knew a tidbit or two that I hadn't picked up from this section of Badweb. Like that the motor still rotates down to get to everything but its easier to drop, easier to work on after you drop it and the radiators/pods drop with the motor! Like everybody has been saying... It looks MUCH better in person. It has similar but much more comfortable ergos compared to my XB12R. Up close it really does look like the same peg and seat mounts that are used on the XB12R. Didn't get to hear it tho. And I still think the muffler could look better but when you look at the cutaway internals you can tell a LOT of work went into it. Function over beauty. The radiator pods look cool tho and I was iffy on them at first. After an hour a lot of other people started showing up. Quite a few Italian and Japanese bike riders there to look at the 1125R and demo the XBs. When my son told me I should start selling Buells I relized that between what I had learned here on Badweb and my black shirt with Buell boldly written on it everybody thought I was a REP! OOPS! Had a great time. I think the 1125 is going to be a big hit. |

"It has similar but much more comfortable ergos compared to my XB12R." That seems to be a contradictory statement. Could you please elaborate. Thanks. |

I think he means that it has pegs, seat and bars but it's much more comfortable than a firebolt . Unless you figure that a firebolt is uncomfortable... Then it would seem contradictory . |

Yes it does. The seat height is the same as the XB12R but the seat to peg distance/knee angle is more like my Firebolt with the S pegs and custom seat. About 1&1/2 inch longer. The reach to the bars and the weight on my wrists with my Firebolt is quite nice but on the 1125 it seems like you have more room with even less weight on your wrists. Don't know how they did that. Oh yes, The coolant tank/tanks? are under the cover for the radiator. Very compact! |

I had to run out to the garage to hop on the Firebolt then try to remember the 1125 this morning. I think that the reach is very close to the same but maybe the angle is different. It just felt more comfortable and with less weight on my wrists. Up to now the Firebolt has had about the best seat to bar ergos for me on any sport bike I've ridden. |

After looking at a few top down pics of the 1125, remembering it's feel this morning and eyeballing by 'bolt... It looks like the fork clamps, bars, airbox cover and seat are not only the same for both bikes but are in the same positions fore and aft along the bike. I'm mostly guessing but I'd say the bar height to seat height is very close too. It looks like the pegs are in slightly different spots so perhaps that is all there is to it. It did seem to feel like there is more room too but that might be just that I'm used to the Firebolt and the 1125 LOOKS a bit bigger. Even if the ergos were the same as the Firebolt I'd be happy but my bad knee seemed to like the 1125 better than my modified Firebolt so I'd guess there are some small differences. |

I know for a fact that the pegs are lower, as anony stated, the engine (therefore the bike), is narrower which allows for lower peg height without compromising lean angle. I think the pegs are about an inch lower on the 1125r, so your instincts are correct there. I am going to be moving from a Lightning to the 1125r and I am hoping that 400-500 mile days are going to still be relatively comfortable. I don't want to be like a buddy of mine who bought a '97 Kawi ZR-7, which is like a torture rack. He is lucky the Buell has a relatively short fuel mileage range as he seems to be in pain every time we stop to gas up.... |
