If that is where you were and that's where you want to go...you're out of luck...all full up that weekend. On a real quick search there are two cheap places with availability: 1. Wellesley Inn Ramsey, $81 / night, 19.9 miles from Bear Mountain (Ramsey) 2. Americas Best Value Inn, $98 / night, 9.5 miles from Bear Mountain (central valley) Just some quick info... |

We've stayed at the Countryside Motel.A REAL shithole. But it worked 'till we got kicked out. Try to stay near Bear Mountain. To the east of the Hudson preferrably |

We stayed in Cold Springs, NY. I believe that we stayed in a place called the Countryside motel or something. The weekend of the 4th is fine with me. I'll probably have to leave on Saturday. I just found a list of places to stay. Cold Spring Village Hudson House Inn 2 Main Street, Cold Spring NY, 10516, Telephone: (845) 265-9355 Pig Hill Inn 73 Main Street, Cold Spring NY, 10516, Telephone: (845) 265-9247 A short walk from the train station, features eight rooms filled with antiques which can be purchased. No TV or phones but fireplaces make the difference. Plumbush Route 9d, Cold Spring NY, 10516, Telephone: (845) 265-3904 Cold Spring Boat Club Steve Merando, Dock Master, West Street & Main Street, Cold Spring NY, 10516, Telephone: (845) 265-2465 Docking for boats 30 feet in length or less. Limited overnight docking is available on a first come, first serve basis at this private club. It is advisable to call in advance. Township of Philipstown The Bird and Bottle Inn 1/2 mile east of Route 9, Garrison NY, 10524, Telephone: (845) 424-3000 Route 9 off Old Albany Post Road. This is clearly one of America's most famous country inns established in 1761. Beautifully set at a junction of original unpaved roads, has all the charm and feel of the of 19th century. Eagles Nest Route 9d, Garrison NY, 10524, Telephone: (845) 424- Country Side Motel Route 9, Exit 13 off I-84, Philipstown NY, 10516, Telephone: (845) 265-2090 |

I'm up for my own room. I've slept in enough transient tents to never again want to hear the sound of a bunch of guys snoring & farting all night. |

Greg, I'll bunk with ya. I don't care where we stay so it sounds like the Countryside...I'm in for the 4th. Very early AM departure on Saturday? Best route for me is out the pike to 84 down to Waterbury then whatever the best route is from there. I'll put my couch up for grabs for anybody wanting to start at my place. I'll also put myself up for cooking a solid breakfast to get us going. |

Where is everybody these days??? I may have made a couple friends a little weary of vacationing with me.When i get under the "influence" i sometimes get introverted and quiet.Which puzzles some. I'm sorry for it.I miss Eric,i just saw him last Saturday and all seems fine.I say these things 'cuz it'd be cool to ride with Eric&Jim..Two guys' i feel i've alienated in some small way...Or not..Maybe i'm playing the "Princess" again.Sappy sometimes too... |

Sorry guys, but I have to back out. My hardwoods are getting finished up next week, and I have to do the finish work (lotsa plaster & paint) the weekend of the ride. In other news, yesterday on my after-work bicycle ride everything was going pretty well. I wasn't too tired or too hot, and I was making good time. Then, about 6 miles from home on a residential side road, some lady pulls right out in front of me. I was going about 17 mph down the middle of the road (besides her and me, the road was empty), so I swerved to the curb to keep from running into her. Then, just when I was right about next to her rear bumper, maybe two houses down the road, she pulls over, cutting me off! I locked up my brakes, front and rear, but crashed right into her front passenger-side fender and went down. Here's what transpired next: "F#*K, LADY!!" "I didn't even see you!" (no kidding?) "WELL TRY USING YOUR MIRRORS, OK?!" "Are you OK?" (Now back on my feet... no blood anywhere, all body parts pointing in the right direction... wish I could say the same for my bike) "I’M FINE!!" And that was pretty much it. It took me a minute or two to get the bike back together: the chain was off, the handlebars were crooked, and the back wheel had somehow wedged itself up against the brake pad so it wouldn't turn, but I got it rolling again. The whole time I was futzing around with the bike she was still parked behind me. I didn't look back at her again, but I'm pretty sure she was totally freaked out. Maybe I taught her a lesson about sharing the road with bicycles. I know I learned a lesson about cars... actually, I just transferred a motorcyclist's mantra over to the bicyclist in me: "Imagine the STUPIDEST thing the cager could do, and that is probably what they WILL do." |
