Saw this on the local craigslist http://milwaukee.craigslist.org/mcy/379634065.html
quote:Pearl White, Signature Series, RARE Limited edition (68 of 87 made that year.) 20k miles. $5,400 Personally autographed by Erik Buell. Autographed jacket and helmet also available.
Just curious if that "68 of 87 made that year" is correct. I'm tempted to go look at it and ask if they have the Signature Series stuff to go with it. But I'd just be a lookeloo so I probably won't bother the seller. |

I wonder if Court or someone has the actual numbers of bikes shipped in the different colors available. Found a site earlier that gave S2 quantity as 1500 S2's and 500 S2T's, which is what I thought was more correct. Probably like you said and it's probably the number of Pearl Ice White bikes shipped in '95. I may have to go take my tank cover off again and see what is written underneath. I've got a cap rim leak I have to fix anyway, need to find some Hylomar goop first though. |

On an only slightly related topic . . .was I suffering from CAIS (cranial/anal insertion syndrome), or do I recall some sort of "Signature Plate" registry here? If so, I have just relocated mine . . . . Thanks, Don Casto Boulder, Colorado |

There were no 1995 S2T's. 500 might be a good number for the Ice White. Yes, there is a good ol' VERY LARGE Excel spreadsheet that recorded every bit of information about each and every bike. It's a matter of simply sorting by the color column. . . . . |

No problem Don. Court, I think the web site I pulled the 1500/500 numbers from was noting total S2 production, not just 1995 models. I'm still curious what that 68 of 87 number he came up with is in reference to. Sounds too specific to be random, but who knows. |

My 95 S-2 Signature Timing plate reads 95S2 249 382/1399 I'm assuming the 382 is the 382nd produced out of 1399, but what does the 249 mean? I'm the original owner, mines Ice White Pearl. |

Somewhere in the archives here on Badweb is a thread titled: S2 signature series. here is a link to one of the first versions of it: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/show.cgi?tpc=4062&post=213759#POST213759 I started that spreadsheet and still maintain it to this day, I have about 150 S2 owners listed on it. I can post it again if others wish to see it, and perhaps add their names to it. I've recently received 3 new owners to add to the list. I believe someone named "Rex" on this board copied that list from the archives and maintains it on a personal website of his own. Anyone can ping me and give me their information to add to the list, if they wish. The list consists of Year, color, badweb name, (if any), signature series number, and have/looking, meaning they have their signature cover, or are looking for it... Jerry - if you look at your VIN number, I believe the three digits in front of your series number, plus the series number, equal the last six digits of your VIN. At least it does on mine (1365/1399). Bartimus - just pinged you my info (Message edited by ratbuell on July 23, 2007) |

Can someone provide me with a detailed explanation of "Signature Series"? I've recently purchased a 1995 S2 VIN:4MZRT11H0S3000554 that doesn't have any special covers or documentation. The PO bought it new, but when I asked him about SS, he had no knowledge of it. Is there an S2 registry anywhere? Thanks. |

I'll post an updated list as soon as I get home. I work on the road and the list is on my home desktop. That posted copy of the list is from back in the beginning, it is much larger now, but I don't think I've made any additions for quite some time now. I have no problem maintaining the list, as I'm one of the biggest fans of the S2, I own 3 of them. :P When I do repost the list, if your not on it, send me your info, and I will update it. |

Schwarz - looking at your VIN your bike might be number 554. My VIN is ...3001365, and my signature card shows number 1365/1399. The cover was not mounted on the bike at the factory, it was shipped in a padded display card along with an info sheet, that I would assume came with a letter from the factory. I have all three pieces with my bike, addressed to the original owner. There are no other markings on the bikes. |

Bear in mind the cal. #s are completely different, as well. My daily beater is a cal. S2t, one of maybe 30 ca;. versions made that year... I'll double-check what my timing cover says.... |

PhatJ - along those lines, my bike has all the T trappings from when I bought it. Came to me with color matched fairings and wide bags. I've recently bought narrow bags (thanks, Hank!). My tip that it wasn't factory stuff? I have three keys: ignition/seat; left bag; right bag. Duh? Stupid parts people. I need to look up who ordered the crap way-back-when since it was all done thru the dealer where I work, and give 'em a slap on the head. Bugs the hell out of me...but not $75 worth, which is what the correct keyed lockset costs, LOL. |

Phat J. Please update that #258 is now in my hands, not FMJ's. And I still don't know how Ratbuell can have a plate that reads #1365 with a serial number that reads ...1365 because there was the whole previous series of serial numbers that preceeded the 4MZR... Inquiring minds want to know. And the silence is deafening. |

Hey guys, Would my 96 S2T (vin ending 0049) be a signature series bike? I'm not the original owner, I bought the bike from a BMW dealership. How could I find the original owner? (Message edited by Not_Purple_S2 on July 25, 2007) |

Curtiss, all S-2 and S-2T's were signature series. Maybe Court can trace your VIN down. |
