I see that the exhaust tips are listed as being made out of stainless steel. What about the rest of the system? I've owned two Buells and both of them looked a lot older than they were because the stock exhaust rusted out faster than I would've believed. On the Cyclone I was able to replace the stock muffler with the stainless steel SuperTrapp and it wasn't much louder. I haven't found a decent replacement exhaust for the XB12Ss yet. The rusty exhaust ruins the look of the entire bike. Everything else looks shiny and new, but the muffler looks a hundred years old (and I haven't even had the bike two years yet). |

The whole exhaust is stainless. The main "dog bone" is just painted black. |

I agree!! Here in upstate NY they start salting the roads early fall and go til April or so. My choice??? Only ride maybe the 3 or 4 salt free months or put up with the mess. God know's I'm not washing it after every ride. |

Excellent news, Spidey. Sounds like they've learned. Now if only they'd make stainless mufflers available for their older models... |

Dick, it's worse here on Long Island. Not only do they salt the roads in winter, but we're an ISLAND surrounded by salt water, so even the air is corrosive! |
