Hey guys, I just bought a 97 m2 about 2 weeks ago. Under 3k rpm is sputters and take a while to get going, after it hits 3k it takes off. Is this normal? |

Uh..in a word, no. It is not normal. Sounds like either a plug fouling, an intake leak, or a mis-jetted carburetor. Does it get better or worse if you ride with the choke partially out? Does it change with throttle position - i.e. sputters at light throttle but OK at WFO? |

I would suggest the plug first myself.... ALSO, check the plug wires real good for any burn marks, or chaffing... Sounds like a low RPM mis-fire, which is USUALLY, though, not always due to fouled plugs... Next I would check the intake seals... Chase (Message edited by chasespeed on July 23, 2007) |

I would check the easy stuff first. Had the bike been sitting for awhile? My thoughts would be stopped up carb. Pull it and clean it, blow out the jets and passages, also write down what jets are there for future reference.Check setting on the fuel/air screw while you have it off(a lot easier than on the bike)2 1/2 turns as a rule of thumb. This is all easy stuff, get a couple of beers and have fun........Charlie |
