I'ts kind of like mosquito bites, no big deal but irritating. Some people very close to this sight post under multiple identities. Often using "Anonymous" to make themselves sound like someone else. Why is that Blake? I absolutely understand the need for anonymous postings be I don't understand the need for deception. Greg |

Did you ever hear about Dr. Richard Richards? True story. He was a professional tennis player who had a sex change operation. As Dr. Rene Richards she wrote a book titled... / / / / / / / / / / / / / / "How to Play Tennis Without Any Balls" |

I don't "get" the whole " Anonymous" concept. We ALL can be anonymous from the day we sign on. Some people know who I am because I chose to let them know but otherwise no one would know who I am. Furthermore, I could setup multiple accounts and confront myself online if I really wanted to. Heck, over in the 1125 thread one anonymous commented on another anonymous basically saying the other anonymous went too far in their criticism. Who knows who really speaks with any authority. I'd much rather see "Factory" or "Buell" assigned to people " in the know" who genuinely wish to remain anonymous but add to the discussion and for those that don't want to be anonymous, like Steve Anderson, let them soldier on. |

In a nutshell I'd say ethics and honesty. Blake is an ethical man so if you read (you could skip anonymous postings) from "anonymi" you can count on the validity of the post. Should we be surprised when there's a disagreement within the anonymi community? A group of people that can't settle on a unanimous decision,,,,,,,that would be like, uh, well, uh, real life. True Internet anonymity is a little tougher to come by than many believe. I'm just a simple tile/hardwood installer and all this technology (bunch of tubes and stuff) confuses me so what do I know. They may or may not have the legal right to post information on behalf of there company (buell). They may need to keep there real ID secret. Also not everybody on the badweb knows who the Any.. is. If the media or competition was watching this public INFORMATION. --- |

More than one person has been outed for abusing the anony priveledge. It's not something you can hide behind to throw zingers at someone and cower behind. If you abuse the priveledge; you are outed with impunity. |

"Some people very close to this sight post under multiple identities. Often using "Anonymous" to make themselves sound like someone else." Baloney. Thanks Greg, I sure appreciate your support. This issue comes up every so often. Our response is always the same. I personally vouch for the anonymi and their valid need to post anonymously. I don't post as anonymous, nor do any of the custodians. With so much valuable and informative contributions from anonymi, I cannot fathom why the feature would be irritating to anyone. |

correct me if I'm off base, but HD have a non-disclosure type agreement over almost everything relating to 'factory' info? If so, the 'anony' id is a legal loophole, allowing us to get true inside input without anyone exposing themself to legal ramifications. be glad of it - the BS level here is very VERY low, and anyone trying to spread mis-information, or lead a new(er) owner astray is sent on their way thank you kindly. Go look at the Squid boards if you want to see what happens without factory input!!! |

The anonymous function is a tool which anyone can use provided they have a legitimate reason to do so, with legitimate being defined by the site admins or by a self-included disclaimer in the post as to why one posted anonymously. At least that's my understanding of how it works IRL. I do not know if an anonymous post shows who the real poster is to an administrator who is logged in as an administrator. I guess that would be akin to admins having x-ray glasses, sort of.
