How did the Res Ride go? Sorry I didn't make it. I ended up staying in DC to help put flags on the graves at the national cemetery in Quantico. Did you take any pics? |

Hey Mark, the Res Ride went well. Only 1 mechanical difficulty that was fixed once we got the bike back to my shop. No crashes! Check out the Res Ride listing in the Storm Fronts for pics. We had a total of 20 bikes, 15 or so Buells, the rest were Gixxers/CBRs and a 750 Shadow that he rode like a CBR. Rasmonis brought some of the guys up from DC Sportbikes. I've had a lot of request to do it again, so I have it scheduled for next Memorial Day w/e again. Thinking strongly about making it a 2 day event-Fri/Sat. 5 guys from MD, 3 from Philly, 1 from NJ, 2 from Latrobe, PA and a few others from hither and yon. Ekass13 said that he could set up a group rate at the local Holiday Inn, if we had enough interest. I posted a few after thoughts about how to change it for the better next year. I know that this w/e conflicted with the Rolling Thunder in DC for you. I'm considering doing it again in the fall when the leaves are changing, but haven't made a decision yet. |

Welcome Limitedx1! Those racing stripe X1's are a sweet looking bike. Check in with Kuuud, he lives in the 'burbs north of Pgh. Dano_12s lives near Latrobe. I bought and resold a '99 X1 from the north shore last spring. Next Saturday in Johnstown, PA will be "Thunder in the Valley". Kinda a mini "Bike Week" with all the street vendors and a few manufacturers present. Last year Kawi and Suzuki were doing test rides. The other manu's had static displays. I'll be in Colorado for business, so I'll miss it Buell was not represented there last year. The closest dealer is 50-60 miles away...sad. Zepka HD had the entire convention center downtown. Buell of Frederick, MD is having an open house this Saturday. They'll have the messenger bags available for anyone taking a test ride. Dan - Toona |

Doz, you could check with Alchemy. He's closer to the Philly area than the Water Gap, but he may be of some help to you. |

Anyone riding to Carlisle for their Bike weekend this Saturday? XB9er and myself and maybe a few other non Buells will be riding down from Altoona. If you are going, lets meet at the corner of the grandstand across from the "stage" at noon. My Buell will be donning the Cherry Bomb plastics with black Firebolt tail and have the saddle bags and tank bag. Hopefully I'll have one of my new red rubber CityX "X"'s on it. |

Alchemy, there is a paved area in front of grandstand (usually roped/fenced off) where the stunters do there stuff. With your back to the grandstand, I'll be at the bottom left corner with some kind of buell shirt on. Dan |

Toona, Sounds good. If I happen to get there early I will check at 11 as well. If late well then probably on the hour as well. Weather looks great. It should be fun to have a little face to face discussion on the 1125R. See you there. |

Hello Alchemy, Good to see you again! Sorry to hear about the blown fuse on your ride home. My bike was doing the same thing a while back but it would blow the fuse within a few minutes, sometimes a few feet, from the shop. I found a bare wire behind the flyscreen. It was rubbing on the horn bracket. A little electrical tape and no more blown fuses. Of course, I found the bare wire right after I bought the MEGA PACK of fuses (25 count) at Autozone. So now I have a "few" spares. Chris got his fuse problem figured out. When he took his seat rails off to polish them, he cross threaded the bolt for the ground, so even though the screw didn't turn anymore, it wasn't tight. I think a surge went thru and popped the "accessory" fuse. Why the dash and turn signals are wired thru the "accessory" fuse, is beyond me. I guess wiring the turning signals thru the "lights" fuse is to easy. |

Toona, Saturday was a great time. Since I was able to ride mine for another 50 miles or so without problem it makes me think this is pretty subtle. I will keep checking for worn wires and keep fuses handy but this may not reappear for a time. |

My sincerest apologies to all for my having 'advertised' a free antique motorcycle show being produced by a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational corporation. Rest assured, this insensitive act will not be repeated by myself or any agent of the non-stock not-for-profit educational corporation in question. thanks for understanding, and, again, please accept my sincerest apologies (i attempted to delete the original threads, but could only delete my responses. if any custodians would be so helpful as to delete all of the 'advertisements' which I'd posted for this event, I'd be very thankful. again, my sincerest heartfelt apologies for this act) (Message edited by tramp on July 24, 2007) |

Just a reminder of the NHRA Keystone Nationals at Maple Grove near Reading, PA on the 17th and 18th. Might be a Buell running. I think Toona is going and I am seeing if I can work it into my schedule. Not good for me at this point however. Maybe Toona will comment on his plans. There are some nice roads in that area. |

THE RACE IS ON! I'll be beat feeting it to Maple Grove Raceway Friday afternoon. I'm leaving out of home at 2:30, and traveling Rt 22 to Harrisburg then the 'pike until what used to be exit 22( don't know the new exit number) then taking some back roads to the track for Friday night qualifying (2nd round). We're staying at Sun Valley campground about 2 miles from the track. Probably will make the traditional trek to Shady Maple Smorgasborg Saturday night, yum yum The weather is looking good for Friday and Saturday, Sunday is the only day in question. They should be FLYIN'. WOO HOO Depending on weather I may stay thru Sunday eliminations. If it rains, they won't run, so I'll back track Sat night. While at the track, I won't have internet access, so any meeting arrangements will need to be made before I leave Friday. Anybody game for some NITRO! |

Big News!!! New race track (including motorcyles) coming to Pennsylvania. The township just approved this development plan for a location west of Pottstown on route 724. See this link and check the map with the track layout. http://libertybellmp.com/faqs.html |

I am not familiar with it. I do see the Team Pro-Motion has track days there. Do you have any comment or knowledge of Team Pro-Motion? They have track days at a lot of tracks. I am wondering if it is worthwhile to join. http://www.teampromotion.com/tpm.php?page_id=home |

I've not done a track day. I'm afraid I'll get addicted and want to do more. I caught myself doing "more" (read unsafe) on the street than I should, so I've been reeling myself back in....The Buell track day at Mid Ohio is the weekend before my family and I go on a 7 day cruise, so I'll have to pass on it.... |

I am a little concerned that trackdays will lead to more street hooliganism. On the other hand, it may be that the track gets that out of your system. Not sure, seems like it could go either way. I am just not sure which way it works. I am mostly interested in being a better rider and understanding suspensions and handling better. I am not interested in winning anything so much as just seeing my lap times improve a little.... if I had a way to measure them<grin>. |
