01XJ- Welcome! I've been riding with these yahoos for maybe a couple of months, and it's been a great experience. My riding has improved as well as my confidence in wrenching my own bike. Or maybe they just convinced me to keep it out of the dealership's hands... And I think I met Tony at the Vanilla Bean last weekend. He was on an '07 KLR 650? He tried to get me into his track days, but I'm too cheap for that stuff. Eric- Speedy Metals Let me know how they compare. I've got the stock for the sliders and for my eventual tail eliminator on order-- should be here this morning. (Message edited by scotty_j on July 20, 2007) |

Yeah, ever since my mustang days I have been wrenching my own stuff. Though probably pretty minor, I did all the mods but the ECM/TPS reset myself. -Nick |

btw, just when is a tps reset necessary? my brothers firebolt runs like shit, he just put a force exhaust on it, it bogs a little in the lower rpms, i'm pretty sure he has a stock ecm. i've been trying to get him to buy a service manual for that bike. holy crap is that freakin exhaust loud. i've had a force on my cyclone for years but it' s tame compared to rob's xb9 w/force, that thing is scare the shit outta you loud! hey jim, sorry i missed you the last few times you dropped by the store, i kinda don't want to do pools anymore so i have'nt been to the store much, my wife runs a tight ship over there and we have'nt been getting along together, so i'm actually looking for a job, i've been taking my time to get a job i'll like, i applied at precision in r.i., this would be damb near an hour commute each way but worth it if i could work with buells. unfortunately they haven't responded, i'm going to call them again today. i'd like to work with bikes at least. we'll see. |

Tripp, these guys will chime in with more tech data i'm sure but... i remember reading the Force can be difficult to tune plus i'm assuming your bro is going to need more than just the stock ECM to fuel that thing. basically a megaphone! a direct link tune is prob the way to go as i've never heard guys having much luck with Race ECM alone or TFi with the Force and thnx about the bike, glad you dig. love my lil beastie ;) |

Tripp, you DO NOT want to work for Precision.A prerequisite is the ability to kiss Richie's a$$,and hail him as a god.Otherwise the best dealership around these parts. We have such fun performing our own TPS resets thanks to dear Eric...There are some contributors here that are amongst the best people you'll ever meet. Wow....you guys' have a cool dialogue going.I'm off mountainbiking Sunday.Scott? BTW,what's going on Saturday? Nissan mechanix? |

I need all the help I can get! Or at least some moral support. Last time I did anything "big" to my truck (the 2" lift) it wound up on a tow truck. I'm going to crawl under it when I get home and douse the connections with some liquid wrench. Here is where I am: +ma&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=68.810068,86.48437 5&ie=UTF8&ll=42.079719,-71.459541&spn=0.016149,0.0 21114&z=15&om=1,http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl =en&geocode=&q=maple+brook+road+bellingham,+ma&sll =37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=68.810068,86.484375&ie=UT F8&ll=42.079719,-71.459541&spn=0.016149,0.021114&z =15&om=1 My place doesn't actually show on the map; It's a horseshoe to the south of Maple Brook, "Old Bridge Lane". Look for an Xterra with a Yakima roof basket. You still in Eric? Beers & BBQ will be provided. Sorry, Greg, still no MTB for me. 1) I need to get some more road miles under me, and 2) the ankle still isn't 100%. I can't even run and I love running. |

Tripp...... I have the VDSTS so I can do a TPS reset for your brother any time he wants. I also have the service manual. Is Precision hiring???? Just wondering why you would put in an application there???? Your brother should see if Al from American Sport Bike has a map for the Force as well. |

Little do you know greg.... I've had the VDSTS for a long time. Unlike you I like to be independent of a stealership. A good investment.... Yea for $150 Looks like I'll have to charge you for a TPS reset......... everyone else is for free |

ha, i was begging rob to get a service manual tonite, (jim) maybe we can hook him up next week his bolt really runs like shit-oh, and the only reason i applied at precision is cause they sell buells, the website says they're hiring but i've been there several times and they're not responding. i would really like to work with bikes but i'm having a hard time finding a job in that field that's also close to home, unfortunately sheldons is an hour and a half from me, and so is paramount, then i think the next closest buell dealer is n.h. i'd love to open my own shop but there is a lot of competition around here. maybe i'll try my hand at commercial fishing although the deep scares the shit outta me, hehe. i want to do something interesting (to me) and or fun, for a change money is'nt the deciding factor, my wife still runs the pool business and it's squeekin by, i'm just sick of pools tho, i've been doing it for 15yrs, i wanna do something i like. i'm considering going to mtti in prov. maybe that'll help me get a job in the bike industry. if i could do anything i wanted i would go back to college, unfortunately it would require too much time, all ready the wife is giving me a hard time about working so even if i go to mtti ima have to get a job between now and sept. 16, when the school starts. bah, i don't know what imona do! |

Looks like you don't need a TPS reset any time soon. Perhaps not..i've done it/used it myself on the X1(borrowed vdsts). And Eric DID already do the XB. Maybe i can borrow yours if i need one in the future. I'm not breaking on 'ya.I think i do remember some exchange awhile back with you and Eric and cables or something. Can you help me out with VDSTS? Meet me in Bellingham today? 2p? |

VDSTS is the software link you need to do the TPS. And I've shanghaid Eric and/or Greg into helping swap the starter in my truck today. You're welcome to come out & help! Or at least grab a bite & a beer... |

Hmm... I gave the connections a good overnite soak of Liquid Wrench, busted 'em loose this morning, then tightened 'em back down. Gave the starter a whack per Damnut's instructions and she fired right up, no hesitation, four times in a row. I still need a hand with some voltage testing, though. So does anyone think the starter's done? Is this the end of my adventures? -BBQ is still on, especially since Greg's probably already on the road. |
