Mounted the brackets for the side cases and top rack. Side panniers are from H & B and are a direct fit. Top rack is a modified Ventura to lay totally flat. Thanks to Danno for the use of the garage, tools, and of course the beer. More pics to come when the bags are mounted. Its camping season !

That's nice! How long did it take for the side racks to come in? Did you get them from tristedthrottle? I keep going back to those but haven't pulled the trigger yet. |

Three weeks, I got them from Moto-International in Seattle, they helped me with my H&B sport trunk last year. They were not cheap, but it was one of the easiest installs. we didnt even need to speak german (the instructions were only in german) Will get some pics when they are fully loaded with the caribou pelican cases and H&B top rack. I will have more storage room than an Ultra Classic |

Thanks slicker. I just called them for a quote to see if they are cheaper than twistedthrottle. I'm also checking to see how much the top rack would be. I don't have a ventura rack so the H&B top rack might be cheaper than buying the Ventura L-brackets &sport rack. Only problem is he couldn't locate the part number I gave him for the top rack. Might not be able to get it. |

The quote Moto-International gave me was higher than twistedthrottle by over 10%. I'm still waiting on that quote for the top rack. Slicker, how do you plan to mount the Caribous(permanent or quick detach)? I keep dragging my feet because of the cost. I don't have the resources/ability to modify the rack to fit the Caribous so I would need to go with the H&B bags, which aren't cheap. I can deal with the cost of the racks. The Caribous are priced great but if I had to have a shop extensively modify the rack the total could end up being close to what the whole H&B setup would be(obviously that's a best guess). I would really want the ability to quickly detach them. Permanently attaching them and using bag liners is an option but if I could help it I'd rather just have them quickly detachable. Then again, maybe it wouldn't be so hard for a shop to modify the rack for the Caribous. What's it look like? |

Yeah, but by the time I factored in shipping, and the ability to pick them up locally, and a shop to a name to a face if I have any technical issues. It was worth it to me to have it now versus later. I am going to mount a metal plate over the hoop, to make an impromptu number plate. I am going to hard mount them with fasteners with zues fasteners and wire clip ons for added safety. I will post pics when it is done. My top case is from H&B the Sport Trunk. The side bags I am just going to drill and tap for standard hardware fasteners. |
