Yeah, not seeing any similarities with the 749. The 1098 is completely different IMO. A motorcycle will always have somewhat of a similar shape when compared to another motorcycle. Not much to work with. Two wheels, a tank (or airbox), an engine, and a seat. |

I do notice a similarity of the 1098 headlights to an XBR's. |

I may be the only person in America who likes the styling of the Ducati 749 better than the 1098. For whatever reason the 1098 just never grew on me. Maybe it's because I know I can't afford one, so why bother? The 1125R is a whole different animal. I can't wait to see one of those up close. |

i was thinking more like r1 but id bet its really more a byproduct of what form works best in the name of aerodynamics that copying some other design. |

The 1125 headlights screamed 916 to me. Maybe their 'flat' arrangement. |

I have been asked many times if my firebolt is the "new Ducati" meaning the 1098. That is in part due to my full fairings. So it isn't only a few of us, it is a lot of the public in general that sees a similarity between the firebolt and the 1098. |

I think the majority of the misinformed public think that anything that doesn't sound like an in line 4 must be a Ducati. BTW, I think the 1098 is the most beautiful sport bike to hit the road since the 916/996/998 series. Of course I like Buells and all bikes for that matter. If I could afford one, I'd have a 1098 in my garage right next to my 12S. (Message edited by cgocifer on July 20, 2007) |

Ducati's designers have acknowledged they had an R1 with them when they were styling the 1098. |

Looking at the 1125R and the 1098 photo at the same page, makes the Buell look ugly. I wish they do something to balance the front and the rear end of the bike, and the radiators to be part of the design, not just standing out . The front end might be aerodynamic but is definately too high up and too forward, making the bike looking big-headed. Maybe the bike will look better in person, but I doubt it. It is a pitty a new designed bike, 1125R, to look worse than the previous model the XB12R. I wish the do change some bits to balance the shape of the bike. |

Since I don't really keep track of what sportbike models look like -- most look the same. I just look for the exhaust, or single side swingarm... The cool stuff. |

I was drooling over the 1098S today...then I saw the pricetag. What a joke! I'd like to have a 1098, but given my experience with Buell, I'd rather have the 1125R. I don't care what it looks like. |

The only thing I see that makes people like the looks of the Duc's more than the 1125r is the difference in having the side fairings covering the engine. That gives room for more color on the bike giving a smoother look. I'm guessing that someone out there will be making side panels for the 1125r soon. Unlike the XB's, covering the engine will not be a heat issue. |

When you see the 1125R live it looks very cool. Ask anyone who has seen it in person, like the folks at Laguna. |

When I look at the pictures of the 1098 next to the 1125R, the Ducati looks plain. I like the look of both the 1098 and 1125R, but the 1125R is outrageous next to other sport bikes. It looks like something that belongs in Mad Max movie. Buell did it again, they designed a bike that people with either hate or love and nothing in between. |

I havent, nor will I pass judgement until I see it in person.... The numbers look good, BUT, so do most UJM bikes numbers look good, BUT, I still prefer the Duc's and Buells.... Again, I dont know why I keep following this board, I will never be able to ride or own one of these beauties.... Chase} |

Birds of a feather flock together. As the Buell gains performance it looks more like other bikes with similar performance...Hmmmm,they may be onto something. I don't dislike ANYTHING about the new bike.Despite my rude comment about first year production. |

The 1225R has a front fairing that really works...and is much more akin to the XBRR's front end (which also worked exceptionally well) than any other motorcycle. Is it form over function that you guys who don't like the new front end are looking for? What is more important: the way the bike looks or the way it works? The Buell places more emphasis on function over form, but the art comes in with the way they did it and maintained a great looking design. But what do I know about it...I am just a troll. jimidan |

>>>I havent, nor will I pass judgement until I see it in person.... Smart move. I've urged that from the first day and reports, coming in from Laguan Seca, bear out my "this thing looks 1000x better in person than in the pics". You won't even (at least I didn't) notice the radiators in person . . . in fact, I asked WHERE IS THE RADIATOR? |

In my opinion the duc 1098 is the sexiest stock sport bike i have ever seen. However I never even thought about buying one, especially at that price. Mostly because it has the least street able egros of all the liter bikes and is no faster than the gsxr thou on the street or the track. Just looks are not enough. My next bike was probably going to be a gsxr 750 or used aprilla tuno. Until the 1125r came about. Now I will have to wait and see how it fairs in the street comparisons. I hope the buell prevails! |

Curtis: "i" have been one since 1997 !!! WORKS FOR ME !!! Have 97,632.2 miles on my 97S3T and the TOP END has never been off ... Only been on the side of the road broke twice, 1st: the front motor mount broke which was a warranty issue, 2nd: The drive belt broke because "i" left it on too long ... Every time "i" see Erik Buell, "i" ask him does he want it back to see where they went wrong and his answer is it will go another 100K ... In BUELLing LaFayette |

You think WHICH TWO look similar? (Notice scoops under headlights and under passenger seat, and nearly identical exhausts) Sorry guys. While the details may be much better/nicer, over all, I think the Duc looks too much like all the other jap bikes covered in plastic. I'm so glad Buell opted for the partial/no fairing. |

FWIW I have full fairings on my Firebolt and have not had any overheating issues with it. Even on 100degree days I always hear people alluding to heat being a problem for me, but at worst my bike's fan runs another 30 seconds after other XBs I've ridden with. However I attribute that more to the high compression (11.43:1) and the fact it's a 1250 and puts down more power and therefore has more heat to dissipate. |
