there are several calculators out there that can help you guestimate the 1/4 mile ET and top speed, look at nightrider's site...its the easiest simulator to find that I know of...

you plug in the weight, torque vs rpm numbers, and gearing info, then it spits out a ET, top speed, etc etc

Now for the next question....

How stable is it at those speeds?

Is it like my tuber, once it hits 120, gets pretty damn spooky?

Or will it be like my 748, and stay nice and tight all the way?

I would think the aerodynamics of this bike and to a lesser extent the longer wheelbase (compared to my XB) will keep this thing pretty solid at high speeds. Knowing Buell, I can't see them put this package together and then have it fall apart once it reaches its up limits as far as top end.

Much more stable than a 748! Tube frame design dates back to 1985, guys.

Much more stable than a 748!

See, now I at least need to demo one, ona track, not that the useless dealership near me will get one... OR that there is a track near me...

Oh well, one day I will get a chance to test this thing for myself.... HAHAHAHA, I am dreaming...

Get rid of that 748 and buy an 1125; you'll be glad you did and then you'll know it intimately!

Intimately! ..??

Uh.. Don't use words like that about motorcycles.. my wife is already on my case about wanting this one to add to the stable and the last thing she needs is to think I'm gonna be getting overly intimate with it... damn.. You're making it sound like a 'full service' bike.. so to speak..

The wife will be jealous.. if you say we'll get to know it intimately.. I'll end up sleeping in the garage.. between the XB and the 1125.. (or is that what you're wanting?)

There must be something wrong with it, aye? Mine is smooth as glass and feels like it's on rails at that speed.

It's high turning loads combined with braking or acceleration loads can get 'er flappin' a wee bit. After all, it is a 1985 design.

i'm with you rick. my tubers are all stable at the top and it has only been on the track that i can find the hinge feeling banked way over and accelerating. i think a lot of that though is inadvertant rider input magnifying the effect of the rubber mounting. when i get the fast turns just right, no wobble. the new bike is going to be so nice.

Nico may be on to something.. Now, I know she doesn't wan a new kitchen.. I'll have to look for something though.. a trade off sounds like a good idea... If it doesn't eat into the bike money.. Gotta be able to drop the dough on command.. so to speak..

Little background to be fair...

I am currently stationed in Corpus Christi..

EXTREMELY windy...

non faired bikes are REALLY spooky at speed down here...

Hell, going over the harbor bridge at triple digits, I look like an old cafe race... hanging on to the down tubes with one hand, while tucking as tight as I can behind NO fly screen or anything...

Once I am in something other than flat windy areas, and in twisties... its like a bullet train...goes where I want it... BUT, its still not as stable as my OLD 748....

And believe me, by the time I can afford an 1125, ya'll will have designed some hydrogen powered marvel, with 200 hp, etc...

I had to look and save for 2 years, and sell my Duc for the current X1...
