When I saw the new 1125 I fell in love, the bike looks incredible and the first thought I had was, I have to have one. This is the first time I ever thought of selling my 03 9S. The only problem I have is buying a bike in its first production year. How much testing went into the new bike so that most of the kinks have been worked out? I know that a lot of bikes have some minor problems but I have to say that, (knock on wood) I have not had a single problem with my XB, and I would hate to sell it and buy a bike that has not been everyday road tested. Please, somebody help put my mind at ease about buying this bike. Matt | ||

The 1125 was tested unmercifully to the new process we have been using with XB's, but with added extended top speed testing and other new extreme duty tests. We continuously make our testing tougher based on what we have learned from the field. The XB series keep getting more and more reliable, and you should see at least as good on the 1125R. | ||

I think it is the software world that has gotten to us, look at the new Iphone, so many people will say that I will get the 2nd gen when they get all the bugs out. I gotta believe that they wouldnt be selling the product if they hadnt tested it. That being said, closed course professional riders will never do some of the stuff that we are doing to the bikes. I know they never intended the CityX to be an "adventure" bike, but there are a hand full of us out there doing it  | ||

Any bike is going to have quirks about it, and the 1125R will be no different. Luckily, I think the 1125R has a good but in common with the XB line as far as chassis is concerned, so the only real potential trouble spots are the engine and the systems surrounding it. I woudln't be at all concerned about buying a first-year model. Things are going to change and improve no matter how long you wait. I bought a 2004 Sportster brand new. New engine, new frame, new lots of stuff. The only issue I ever had with that bike was a bad front master cylinder, which everntually became a recall issue. Mine was fixed under regular warranty with no hassle from anyone. If you like the bike, buy it. | ||

Matty, Correct me if I'm wrong but don't you own a first year production XB? I have the same ride as you do and have not had any issues. I would think that the 1125r is at least as good as what we have. I wouldn't hesitate to get one. Just my $.02 | ||

Thanks guys, I guess nerves from actually thinking of selling my XB makes me a little hesitant of looking at something new. I know Erik would not put anything out the door that is not the best. I will have to go talk with the local dealer and have them put me down for one. Please correct me if I'm wrong but I thought Buell made a 9R in 2002? Thanks again Matt | ||

Buell used to give me bikes before they came out and my marching orders were "just go ride the motorcycle". I found all sorts of things. Times have changed and Buell is a leader (comes from having a grouchy T&A (tests and analysis) Engineer as Chief Technical Officer. I've been asked by a nifty publication to come up with an idea for an article "that would be of interest to Buell owners". . anyone have any interest in learning just what your Buell goes through before you get to dole out your dose of punishment? The test protocols are providing us with the most reliable motorcycles ever manufactured. Court | ||

I'm very sorry but. Buell motor company dropped the ball on the defective headlight issue on the Xb models.Avoid the first year 1125r like it's the plague.And sit and watch the FFFFFFF'UPS.They're there,question is....will BMC rectify them. | ||

I have an '06 Uly (first year) and have logged over 11,000 miles in my first 6 months. No issues. I would buy the '08 1125R with no reservations. | ||

I have an 2003 XB9R that was built in December of '02. I've only had three issues. 1. Front brake rotor hardware needed replacement at 7k miles. 2. Speedo sensor seal needed replacement at 7k miles. It was weeping a little oil. 3. Stator went out at 16k miles. My fault, I was using Mobile 1 and Lucas in the primary. Other than that my 2003 has been as reliable, or more reliable, as any other machine I have ever owned. I have no problem buying a first year run 1125R, and in fact that's exactly what I'm going to do. | ||

I had two first year Buells. . . no issues yet. But, it's only been 20 years and I don't want to be hasty. | ||

I have an iPhone and love it, I have a 2006 Xb and I love it, I have a last gen Mac Powerbook G4 and love it. Went mountain riding last nite, off grid, the lights are worthless, but I have a fix coming. I dont know that there is any decent off grid testing at night for these bikes, as the test riders would tell you immediately that they cant see around the corners. And again, I doubt Buell rode the Cityx the way I am pushing it prior to roll out. |
