Every once in a while Gmail will post random search links in the headers of emails sent and received. This one popped up today after I sent a email to Court. Enjoy! http://www.motorcycleshopper.com/articles/lap-usa. htm |

Must have been another Court Canfield . . . . The scary part is that I'd been riding Buells FOR YEARS when that went down. I doubt many here recall the entire adventure. I have all the pictures and the 1,500 word/day stories all stashed somewhere. I was doing a 15 minute "from aboard a Buell" radio call in show 3 days a week and had a blast. The trip tossed my into an interesting group of enthusiasts ranging from James Taylor's brother, Ted Turner and Harrison Ford. Buells evoke a great deal of emotion and I am a subdued sorta fella. Yeah . . wrong Court.

Hey Court, why don't you put together a thread that has a photo album and field notes of the trip? That would be excellent. Maybe it would be used as a blueprint for others considering a similar trip? BTW, excellent article, you rock! |

Actually . . . that trip was 12 years ago this month and it was an absolute hoot! It was the first time a Buell had ever been in most those states and it gave me a chance to "seek out" the Buell curious. There was one Buell owner in Virginia who'd had a couple problems. He was a guy who rode with Oliver North and some of the folks out of Waugh's. Boy was he surprised when I drove down his long driveway, walked in his garage, knocked on the door and said "I'd here to take a look at your Buell". Several days later in California's Mt. Palomar Observatory (located of all places on Canfield Drive) I pulled in the parking lot, popped the bags off the S-2 and offered up and back demo rides to all takers. At the end of the day, I put the bags back on headed to Beverly Hills (I stayed with a movie producer, long time BMW rider and inventor, who was interested in a Buell, then on to Carmel Valley Road (I stayed at the horse farm of the writer who has a novel featuring a good guy who rides a Buell), and off to Mt. St. Helens for a day of exploring. . . I rode a Bimota and Bret spent the day on my S-2. Fun stuff. . . |
