Because of the road closures due to the fire, the SoCalBoyz ride to SLO will be changed per Andrew's recomendations: Malibu stuff goto Ojai 33 turn right to 33/166 33 west 58 west (Pozo Rd. option) 101 south SLO Has anyone ridden the Pozo Rd? It looks way cool on google maps. Brian, we can meet in Malibu if you are riding with us. Since you know the area better than us, maybe you can suggest a meeting place? We usually stop at a triangle Chevron station on PCH but I don't know the address. |

There is one at Sunset Blvd. Maybe the Malibu twisty bits could be something like this? PCH north to Las Flores, RT on Las Flores to Rambla Pacifico, RT on Rambla Pacifico to Scheuren, RT on Scheuren to the overlook, park, rest, take pix, go back on Scheuren to Rambla Pacifico, RT on Rambla Pacifico, becomes Piuma, RT on Cold Creek Cyn Rd to Mulholland, LT on Mulholland past Rock Store, stop for pix if wanted, Continue on Mulholland to Westlake Blvd, RT on Westlake to Potrero Rd, LT on Potrero to Port Hueneme/Lewis Rd, LT on Port Hueneme to Laguna, RT on Laguna to Las Posas, RT on Las Posas to 101 fwy, N on 101 to Nirvana. There's a multitude of variations of course. Instead of RT on Westlake, make a lefty and continue on Mulholland to PCH. Or if wanting to get on the 101 sooner, RT on Westlake to 101. So many roads; so little time... |

It's looking good for me. I'll be dropping off some gear at ebear's tomorrow and meeting you guys in Malibu on Thursday. Does the Chevron station at PCH and Sunset work? Most people are familiar with that I think. Calidrew suggested giving me a call when you leave Long Beach and that would give me enough time to meet you or if you want to set up a time instead that works too. |

Al, Reindog and SocalBueller are meeting at the Chevron at Sunset and PCH, probably late Thursday AM. I bought a Chatterbox. Is anyone else bringing one, or should I leave it at home? We will follow a twisty bits section similar to Sparky's recommendation, then the b-r-r-riefest possible stint on the 101 to 33N throught Ojai, right on Lockwood Valley RD to left on Cuddy Valley Rd to East on 166/33 to 58West to Santa Margherita and 101 south for a second to SLO. And speaking of Margheritas... |

Wednesday 7 - 10 pm Anybody wishing to discuss Laguna Seca travel plans for this weekend, let's meet at Baja Cantina, 311 Washington Blvd., Marina Del Rey, 2 blocks from the ocean, over margaritas with a live surf band, the Boardwalkers, in the background. No cover. Parking iffy - valet best bet, or if on your motorcycle, tell him Sparky always parks by the palm tree. Oh yeah, I'll be wearing a Buell Team Elves shirt. Andrew: Al and I will stop at your place since you are only a mile from the 405. We'll give Brian a call when we are leaving your house and we can all meet up at the Chevron at Sunset/PCH. Al and I will leave San Diego around 9 so we will be in Long Beach around 10-10:30. We will need directions to your house. Someone other than me should lead us through Malibu as I don't know the area. Andrew, did you want to stop at Neptune's Net for lunch? I can lead us through Ojai/33/166/58. For the adventurous, there is a cutoff road off the 58 called Pozo Rd. that hooks back up with the 58 right before the 101. Tom's cell # is 760.560.8049 Team SLO: check your email for cellphone info. Not sure if you wanted your number posted in a public forum. |

The Ojai/33/166/58 is a great road trip combo, however, be prepared for major heat on the 166/58 leg! Everyone should fuel up in Taft, as it is the last station for quite a while. Also watch for cops on the Ojai (Hwy 150) and the 166 especially. the 150 has some sections with below average speed limits (read speed traps). Everyone have a fun time! Great roads. The 33 is my all time favorite! |

This Wednesday is the first wednesday of the month, and as such, is the SCAB (Southern California Area Buellers) meeting at Knowlwoods. Be there or be, well, somewhere else. I think I'll drive the bike up to this one, so if anyone is riding up from San Diego and wants to ride with me, lets leave Biggs Oceanside at 6:30. We'll get up there around 7:30. Knowlwoods is in the shopping center at the intersection of La Palma ave And Imperial Hwy, just north of the 91, see http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=5665+E.+La +Palma+Ave.+Anaheim,+CA+92807&ie=UTF8&z=15&ll=33.8 61115,-117.791548&spn=0.016607,0.046563&om=1&iwloc =addr See ya there! Just a quick note to announce that the American Sport Bike BBQ planning is in full swing. See http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/17143/293238.html?1185896599 I'll be sending out email invites to all the customers in the nearby states (CA, AZ, NV, OR). Folks from everywhere else are certainly invited and encouraged to attend if you can. But don't wait for an invite, follow the instructions on the link above to make hotel reservations and such. Hope you can make it! Al (Message edited by al_lighton on August 01, 2007) |

August 26th is the not-quite-the-first-sunday-of-the-odd-month BRAG ride mentioned a few weeks ago. It's a good long one. The start of the fun ride begins at the intersection of 15 and 138 at 9:00 AM. We'll be doing a lot of the same routes used on last years Big Bear Ride. Some of the details can be found on the badweatherbikers site at the end of the thread here (last years info, but still good): http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/37/ 225815.html?1157551993 . We'll go east up 138, take 18 to 38, go around big bear lake, drop down out of the mountains, a short section of I10 to Beaumont where we'll go up the back side of 243 into Idylwild. From there, folks will split up to their north, south, or west home destinations. It's a full day ride to be sure. Anyone from the San Diego area that wants to ride to the start 2 hours north should be at Biggs fully fueled by 7:00 AM. My cell phone number is 760-685-3583 if you need to reach me. See ya there! Anybody interested in riding Angeles Forest Highway over to the 138 and 15 Sunday? Either meet at the Shell at the bottom of the Crest or the 7-11 at Foothill and Oro Vista in Sunland. Takes about 1 1/2 hours to get there from Sunland. It would be a much better ride than taking the highway out there. |

Tonight we're riding from Palmdale up to dinner at Newcomb's Ranch. Expecting to arrive at Newcomb's about 5:45-6:00 If any of you from the "other side of the hill" wanted to meet up there tonight, come on up! |

We had a good ride and turn out yesterday. Tom R, John Crow, Scott, Ebear, Joe Ollar, Brian, Asbjorn, did the whole Big bear loop, Scott and Brian cut off at 10 before Idyllwild, but the rest of us went up there and had lunch. Ebear, Tom and I went from there and did Palomar, and Tom and I finished up with Couser canyon and Lilac to end the day. Tom clocked 410 miles on the day, so we covered a lot of road. With all the T-storms going on, we faired pretty well. Most of the group only got spit on up at Big Bear. But Tom, John, and I had a much less auspicious beginning. Thunder awakened us, and the storm seemed to be parked right on top of Biggs where we were supposed to meet. Tom and I hit a wall of water 1/2 mile from Biggs and were drenched to the bone before the ride even started, and there was serious lightning cracking down all around us. But once we started north on 15 it all cleared up and we were mostly dry by the time we got to the meeting point at 138 and 15. Traffic was pretty light all day. We pretty much set our own pace up the climb up 138 into Crestline, 18 along rim of the world, 243 up into Idyllwild, and the Palomar east grade, with only minimal cars to pass. The next event is Laguna Seca on September 15th/16th/17th. I was planning on riding up, but that might change if Joanne and Zach decide to come as well. Is anyone else riding up? Contact me and maybe we can ride up together. If you are riding up and want the Love Shack to carry your stuff, contact me, Jerry, or Ebear to coordinate carrying your gear so you can travel light. If you haven't RSVP'd for the American Sport Bike BBQ on September 29th, please do so ASAP. We have to get our initial catering numbers in soon. See http://www.americansportbike.com/2007_BBQ.htm and follow the links. And get a hotel room now or you won't be able to later. AL |

I have a few extra Toyota 200 tickets that I bought with the racer discount - $10 each for Fri/Sat/Sun this weekend at Willow Springs. This is the BIGGEST prize payout in the USA including MotoGP... except the IDIOTS in the AMA scheduled the races at Laguna this weekend. I can sell these tix really easily since they're $25 at the gate but thought I'd give my Badweb buds a shot at it first. 3 available. |

Hey everybody - stop by Scott Jensen's pits at laguna this weekend - he's ranked 5th overall in Superstock! This year he's really hooked up and running - and he's a true privateer. You cannot believe how little money he's got to run on! Stop in by his pits, say HI - he's a super guy - who got his start on a Buell by the way in CCS racing... a long time ago. |

We'll be there in the usual spot. With Jensen racing at AMA/Laguna, we're not pitting for anybody in the 200 so we'll be spectating this time... and I'm still a couple months away from having a racebike. I have NEVER so thoroughly destroyed a bike before so it's taking time and money... like that's a surprise??? |

FYI I was over at Biggs San Marcos today, and was surprised to learn that they are getting 4 1125R's, and that as of yet, no one has committed to the first one. So if you're in SoCal and want to be the first kid on your block with an 1125R, there's at least one place that you could get one of the early ones. Al |

This weekend is the Toyota 200 mile race at Willow Springs. This is the BIGGEST purse in ANY motorcycle race in the USA - yes, MORE than MotoGP. $250K at stake. $50K for first place, $1K just to finish under the checkered flag! Glendale's racing group - McGinley and Chaconas on the "normal" XB's and Dixon on the XBRR are racing on Saturday in the Club races (Buell contingency money at stake). Sunday is the 200 miler. I'll be pitting for Jack Pfeiffer. If you haven't seen this race, one thing that really sets it apart from the other long races (like Daytona) is the access to the pits and the ability to stand within feet of the pit action. Come on out! $30 gets you in the gate with full access. Free burgers (til we run out) - paid for by our recycling of bottles and cans!!! (yes, we're a little weird) (Message edited by slaughter on September 14, 2007) |
