Just curious if there was any thought to make the 1125r a full fairing bike instead of half naked like it is now. After seeing a photoshopped image by gekk on the forums, it looks like a full fairing would have been alot easier to hide the side radiators in. Was this done for cooling reasons? |

My thought: It's a Buell... it's SUPPOSED to be naked. But I could be wrong... |

Way too many reasons to list. The bike is strikingly beautiful and unique in real life, immediately recognizable, and has a number of functional things it does better than the competition. For those who want it to look like a Suzuki Katana, I'm sure there will be lots of aftermarket stuff available. |

Way to point out the extremely ugly for a fairing reference! |

LOL! The Suzuki "Kan-a-tuna" is a hideous abomination. |

Yeah, that 1100 Kat was well, an "aquired taste" visually, but I sure would dig it if I had one of those Yoshimura versions in my garage. I think the 1125 is a real sweetheart, though, and she doesn't look like every other girl at the party. |

I would pay an extra $2,000 for the 'true' naked looks of a Buell minus the Roombas glued to the side. Or $2,000 more for some of the photoshoped pictures seen here and submitted by customers and lovers of Buell. Some of these fairing designs are pretty good some even world class classy, not katana cheesy. |

$2,000 more for a naked version? Got it! http://www.ducati.com/en/bikes/my2007/FamilyPage.j html?family=Monster Now I'm all for showing off a thermal management system, but the S4R almost goes too far, even for my twisted senses. It almost looks like someone bolted a refrigerator condenser to the front of the poor bike. However, if you want an 11.5:1 compression ratio outside of a race-only application, then you need liquid-to-air cooling. Full fairing? Again, outside of specific race applications, it is just not needed. While I cannot speak for the 1125R, the frames on the XB bikes set up streamlines that would normally only be found on faired bikes. As the leading edge of the frame follows the angle of the rider's leg, it sets up a very well defined air pattern that moves the impingement towards the outer half of the leg. The arrowhead part of the frame, where the pucks would normally go, is probably the single coolest aerodynamic feature of any bike on the market. The Kawasaki Ninjas come close with their attempt at an NACA flush inlet for their ram scoops, but I'm not convinced that it sets up vortex suction the way a true NACA scoop does. The radiator scoops on the 1125 will change the airflow pattern. The guys at Buell did their homework. Had they not left the gap in between the front fairing and the radiator scoops, they would have separated flow entering the top of each scoop. The gap and the very pronounced sharp-edge of the scoop are very, very deliberate, and essential to the function. |
