5 quart container. For those of us that use it that is not so bad a price. Not so long ago it was closing in on $30. |

Has anyone found a reliable source for the 20W50? My Napa store cannot even order it as it is not in their system. Have never seen it at Walmart. |

I paid $9 a quart at Checkers because my superwalmart didnt carry it.... I hope you didn't pay $9/quart for Mobil-1 15W-50; he's talking about the automotive synthetic that's ~$5/quart at most places. Lots of people have run this oil in their Buells with good results. My local Autozone USUALLY stocks the Mobil-1 motorcycle-specific V-twin 20W-50; I'd think any of them could order it. I once saw it on the cut-out shelf in the auto department of my local Walmart. You can find it at several places on-line, but the price is steep and shipping is not particularly cheap. |

Guys...be careful now that automotive oil is greatly reducing the ZDDP antiwear additives with the new SM rating. M1 15W-50 used to be a great oil for air cooled bikes and such. But in its latest formulation maybe not. The M1 20W-50 V-twin is a great oil...much higher antiwear additives. Yes its rather expensive. |

Nothing wrong with automotive Mobil 1 15W50. It's diesel rated and still has plenty of the anti shear additives according to this article: http://www.lnengineering.com/oil.html Look at the spread sheet and notice it ain't lacking anything. |

If you read down a bit, the author is raising some concerns that the new formulations of the 15W 50 is made with less zinc and phosphorus and he is not recommending the extended performance of the 15W 50 any longer. |

The local Autozone has M1 V-twin at a reasonable price. Less that anywhere else localy. Dennis |

Your Walmart must be better than mine. I was there today and they only had 4 quart containers for that price. |

On a related note, I've spent a couple of hours the last couple of days reading the latest on motorcycle oil at bobistheoilguy.com . One interesting thing that's turned up lately: they've found that the current formulation of Havoline 20W-50 is one of the best conventional oils you can buy presently for air cooled motorcycles, and it's relatively cheap (~$2.50/quart?). I'm planning on changing to a synth shortly, but if I wanted to run conventional oil, I'd look seriously at this stuff. |
