well i hate to say it...but...at first glance i wanted the 1125r really bad..emailed cityxslicker and told him i wanted to be first on the list was ready to bring him my beloved 9 and wait for the boom.....but after looking from as many angles as i could from the pics and going over the specs and being just a tiny bit leary of owning a first year bike....i just couldnt do it....i waited until buell announced the new bike to decide what i was gonna get....dont get me wrong here i loved my 9 and it was painful to see her go ( traded in today at RMC ) i just cant get over the giant ugly rad pods and the blue frame and swingarm...i swear erik needs glasses....sooo i bought an 06 honda CBR1000RR ... got a super sweet deal on it and couldnt pass it up.....there will always be a soft spot in my heart for buells...im sure il be back in the fold soon enough but for now the cbr fits the bill and floats my boat...i hope im still welcome here...i do love this forum...thanx to all the great people ive met from here and more power to erik and all the buell team...drive on buell ur goin in the right direction...now im that guy u cant catch on the straights..so see ya in the corners  . | ||

Well Im sorry to see you leave the Buell camp but at one time i too left the buell camp and i hated leaving it but at the time I couldnt afford a buell due to my ex-wife and everyone here still accepted me and though im now bikeless (untill i get home and get me one of these new 1125Rs) this place is still like a home away form home on the net. So I hope you stick around | ||

i once left buell for a honda, couple months/year or so, i owned three more since. Couldn't get past the lack of soul in honda.... the new cbr do look nice though, very cat-like | ||

first impression...what a damn sweet bike....i think every bike has soul u just have to look for it and find ur groove...so far ive got about 20 miles on this thing and i am impressed...it is different...but..it turns nice...acceleration is out of this world..just unbelivable....not nearly as traffic friendly as the buell....and its really weird feeling the heat comming up through the front fairing from the rads....so far im taking it easy and gettin used to the bike slooooow like...one crack of the throttle and this freakin thing stood straight up....got on the freeway and opened her up a little.....third gear 105...looked down at the speedo and about crapped myself....i know for a fact il be looking for some kind of buell in a few months maybe an older X1 or something..but so far..she looks mean standin still and she runs like a raped ape. | ||

Wednesday sport bike nites are open to all brands. How else could we show them what the Buells can do around the corners, through the hair pins and that they are fun at legal speed limits. You will always be welcome to come join us, Riding is riding, remember you are still light years ahead of the people that are only watching it on Discovery channel and thinking that all biking is through some Orange county behemouth. PS I have the sneaky feeling I will be getting ALOT of low milage XBs in on trade on that new 1125R (maybe one will find it your way) | ||

Curious, how bad did you get raped on the trade? Don't kill urself on that thing! My previous bikes were all in-line 4's. I never came close to using all of my last bike's (R6) power on the street, let alone a 1000! | ||

and see thats why i like i like it here....ive looked at the other boards...at 43 im just not a very good boy racer...the whole my bike is better than ur bike and so on is just crap to me...if u ride then ur alright to me....unless ur one of them chooper guys ....i know il be back on a buell...but i do love the CBR right now...i think a year or so of development on the 1125R will show a world of improvments on an already sweet bike...who knows l8r in the year when i see it i might have to have it....i gotta say it was fun sitting in RMC with a buell shirt on...i saw 2 buellers while i was there...one was a putz but the guy that had an X1 was really cool....i didnt get raped too bad on my trade i got 5000 for it...i tried to sell it over a year ago for 5000 and couldnt give it away so i took the 5 ...and i got the CBR for less than it was worth..but ya know after leavin the F&I office i was into it 11000...but i got the 4 year extended warr and a lojack...its a damn nice ride ...but i think the suspension on the buell was better...the buell came stock with steel brake lines that was nice....the honda is of course waaaay more complicated...the ease of workin on my bike is loooong gone....but so far im happy as a pig in sh!t ....this thing handles like a dream so u might not lose me in the corners all that easy...and yes i do belive il never ride this poor thing to its potential..i cant imagine who could...one crack of the throttle and its like sittin in a jet fighter...i cant imagine a buell with this kind of power...it will be awesome !!!!!!!!!! for all u 1125R's ur in for a treat if that thing pulls like the CBR does....thanx again guys i think il stick around . | ||

after 22k, i too sold my xb 12 r...i miss her, but was looking for something a little more commuter/ travel friendly. the Buell is one of my favorite bikes, and will hang here, and when $$ improve, will pick up another one in the future....and hey at least i still have a v ( four )  | ||

It's all good guys, there are several board members that have "gone over to the dark side"  There are also a large number that have other makes in their garage along side their Buells. I love the Buell people...for the most part they are sport riders that have grown up...at least a little. The spec sheet racers and "boy racer" types get very tiresome. FWIW I have owned interceptors before, and the vf1000f ranks 3rd on my all time favorites that I've owned list. The CBR while a bit plain vanilla for me is still an outstanding motorcycle in it's own right. Enjoy it, but be judicious with your right wrist! | ||

I think of all the IL4 literbikes in your price range you made the best choice for a street bike. See you out there. | ||

yeah i did a little research and it seems to be the mellowest of the big 4..almost went for the ZX10 ...but i couldnt passup the deal i got on the CBR ...9000 $$$$ sticker...thanx blake..i think il stick around here ..should make for some spirited conversations ...especialy when the 1125 comes out. | ||

I am a backwards compatible example though, I sold all my Honda V4s and I4s for Buells. | ||

thanx guys....if i can make it id be proud ta ride with u and ur buells...i am lookin foward to commin up to the harley dealership when i get a chance to see u brian...work is a bit of an @ss kicker right now so il be there as soon as i can....so far im lovin the hondog...as far as handling goes...she handles like a dream...getin around town is still a little rough...it pings at low speeds..and is a little uncomfortable at stop lights....not very easy to one hand it at low speeds....it feels like if i hit a rock or slip and crack the the throttle she'll go ape sh!t on me..but other than that i sure dont see anybody eatin me up in the corners....im waiting to see what happens when i see a buell on the backroads ...just wait til she's broken in before ya'll start tryin to pick me off . |
