Can't find the article online, but just seen the July(?) issue. They have an awesome article on a guy that took his 12r and integrated parts from a Duck, Bmw, and a few others. Man what a sweet looking ride! If anyone can find the pics, pleeez post up! | ||

I really like the attention to detail on this bike. If you didn't know Buells it would be hard to tell what he did and didn't change. That kind of subtlety is the pinacle of customization for me. The prototype keyless gas cap (it has the same spring tension ans seal as a stock cap) was a neat bit too. Thank you Samiam for hosting the pics, and re-sizing them. | ||

That gas cap can be bought. It was designed for Buell racer's Brian. If you want one I know where to get it but I prefer a key for mine. | ||

How much do they cost Dana? I'd be interested, my bike is very rarely parked anywhere that would cause me to worry. I know his is a one off, he popped it and I saw some of the tool marks, and they were not what you see on production pieces. | ||

doesnt that rear brake location do anything funky since its attached to the rear wheel via a chain? | ||

no, the rear brake works great, why better then stock. The only problem is if the chain goes at the same time as your front brakes, then you have a problem. | ||

Back a few years ago those brakes started showing up on AMA superbikes, to reduce unsprung weight, but they ended up getting bounced pretty quickly for the reasons untouchabuell stated. For a modern sport bike with almost no weight on the rear wheel under hard braking that is probably almost too much brake, especially with twin ZTLs. If he maintains his chain there is no reason that shouldn't be a great system for the street. At the time they also played with Aluminum brake rotors too...with poor results, but advances in tech have to come from somewhere, and not every idea is a grand slam from the start. | ||

The only problem is if the chain goes at the same time as your front brakes, then you have a problem. That's funny. If you ride about 50 million miles that might happen, but still unlikely. | ||

That's how we felt when we decided to build the trans brake. It seems like the chances of having front and rear brake failure simultaneously are so slim it would never happen. Plus, most of us only use our front brakes anyway. | ||

I can't wait to see the newest creation, I'm still drooling over the last one(I'm a sucker for a single sided swing arm!). Very nice work and the styling is spot on for my taste. I also dig the custom composite headlamp, very cool. Keep up the good work guys. | ||

any pictures of the open swingarm side? Nevermind, found one! Beautiful bike. How did you weld those mounting blocks for the ZTLs on the Marchesini wheels? Aren't they magnesium? The pics that Gentelman_Jon posted on the other thread are much better than my (amateur) pics that are posted above, they are well worth a look. I also look forward to seeing the next creation. I'm sure it will be a mind blower. |
