How are they surviving the ages are they keeping the nice look or the normal wear makes them ugly? | ||

My plastic looks pretty good after 4,000 miles. Obviously, they have some scratches, but they're not too bad. And I'm not one to clean my bike after every ride. | ||

I can say one thing. If I had translucid body work I would have it shot in clear right from the start. That way it would be 10 times easier to take care of. | ||

'06 City with Hero Blue. I made a buckle guard with some black rubber isolation pad from work. That took care of 99% of the scuffing that occurred on mine while riding. Every now and then I get out the Novus and buff out other little scuff marks. Really easy to bring it back with 1 and 2 as needed. I probably have about 5800 miles on it. | ||

Mine looks okay after 5000 miles, but lots of Novus product has lost its life to keep it looking nice. I wish it would jst come cleared from the factory as it scratches from dust in the garage. If I didn't l;ike the look so much, I would just buy solid colored plastics. --Sean | ||

Well thats the thing I really like the all black but for some reason the cherry bomb is kind of talking to me. I might get the black with the cherry bomb wheel or the blue wheels not sure how it will look with only the wheels being blue. | ||

Clear coat is good until it starts to get scratched, cracks, chips, or peels. And I know clear coat is extremely durable, but these things do happen after a period of time in which case the plastics would look like crap. Just look at a clear coated aluminum wheel that has it chipping off. It looks horrible! With a little prevention such as a belt guard and some Novus 1 you can keep the translucent plastic looking really good IMO. | ||

Wrong.... Clear scratches and you can rub it out. All of today's cars are cleared. 95% most all paint job's are cleared. Cannot compare a cleared wheel to cleared body work in which the wheel has to withstand much more elements. On top of that wheels are powder cleared and its not quite is strong as powder coat with pigment in it for some reason to what I'm told. Picture below is cleared and even though it was done only a year ago it was subjected to alot.    Erik with a friend of mine that painted these for Buell for VH1's save the music Queensryche tour. They were completed in 48 hours from start to finish. With alittle help from me in the wet sanding/buffing department.  | ||

I thought that the translucids were the same color plastic strait thru and that you'd have to run out of plastic in order to run out of polishable material...not sure if I'm making sense | ||

You are correct, they are color fast all the way through, no worries about buffing the color off. I had a blue City-X and rode it 13000 miles in just over a year. The only issue I had with the translucents is that gasoline would spot it, but the spots would buff right off. The guy that bought it from me took the "X" off and sanded it with 2000 grit then buffed it to like new. | ||

I mean that you have to polish regularily to keep up on it. The more you spend polishing it, the easier it is to polish it next time. If you only do it once every 6 months, you'll be using some elbow grease to keep it nice. Novus works great, but regular dust seems tro scratch the plastics, they aren't really scratch resistant. --Sean | ||

With the blue translucent plastic keeping it scratch free is knowing what not to do and what to do. Don't rub it, to clean it spray it with water and some car wash soap like Westley's. Novus will take the small scratches out. Don't get any gas on the plastic either. After 3 years mine still looks good. | ||

I'd like to see a full amber body kit for the 12s. While I'm not a fan of the wheel color I think it would work with translucid body panels the same color. Like the 08 blue city-X with the blue wheels, or cherry bomb w/the red wheels. Then again I could be completely off my rocker....  | ||

Diablobrian. I just bought all the translucid Vallencia Orange for my 04 12S. The translucid orange matches the amber very close, I'll post pics in a few days. Looks really good. The bike looks really rich, very blingy in fact. The best part, I now have a color change for my 9S.  | ||
