Fall purchase of Aprilia Tuono Factory OFF. Fall/Winter purchase of Buell 1125R ON. Thank you Erik for your wonderful creation and keeping me firmly planted in the Buell community (btw I was going to keep my XB along with the new bike). My only trepidation is the inherent risk of buying the first model year of the 1125. But I JUST WANT ONE!!! Truth is, my desire to ride this bike FAR outweighs my practical side which is telling me to wait until 2009! Rock on, Erik. Hope this is a blockbuster for you and you get the recognition you have deserved for so long. |

I know EXACTLY what you mean, Fresno. I have always lusted after a Tuono. Seems strangely old fashioned, and rather undesireable just now, doesn't it?

I too was looking at a new Aprilia, they are offering two and four year leases on new bikes now. But ugly side pods or not, I'm getting a n 1125R next spring. |

Tuono what? Actually the fact that the closest Aprilia dealer to my town is Monterey (3 hrs away), slowed my purchasing decision or I MIGHT already have a Tuono. In this case, things seemed to have worked out perfectly. Just think how sick I would be if I bought a Tuono right b4 the big Buell unveiling of the 1125R. It will be a LONG few months until the bike arrives at my dealer. |

I rode my friend's Tuono side by side with my XB, and you know what? I liked the lower rev and harder pull of the XB from a lower rpm. It seemed like I had to 'spin' the Aprilia up at least to 6K to feel the power, something I don't seem to have to do with mine. A good thing since 6K is nearly the redline I hope the new motor pulls hard from 3-4K rpm like my bike does now, especially after putting on the now discontinued Racekit. |

Did you see the torque curve on the minisite for the 1125R? It's not even a curve, it's almost a straight line! Although the air cooled 1203 still puts out 2 more peak ft. lbs of torque - 84 vs 82 ft. lbs on the Helicon, The Helicon has the revs to get the HP numbers up. Bore and stroke comparison: 103.3 X 67.5 mm : Helicon 88.9 X 96.82 mm : The Lump I guess there is no comparison - the Helicon is definately not a stroker! (Message edited by xb9 on July 12, 2007) |

I have see the torque curve as you describe and it seems amazing flat--almost too good to be true. I wonder if that is actual dyno tested data or "theoretical" numbers from the engineers. It sure looks great on the website (no big surprise there)and if the engine is true to that graph, we have something great coming. |

I can understand being weary about a first year model but if I could afford one I would make this an exception. I wouldn't mind having one of the first Helicon powered Buells. It's the first of a whole new era. And it's a 25th year anniversary signature edition! Says so right on the triple. You gotta have an 08 if you want that. After seeing pics of the new Buell I have to ask; What's an Aprilia? I can't seem to remember |

>>> if the engine is true to that graph, we have something great coming. Actually it is and in some ways more. In talking to people who have spent a great deal of time riding the 1125R and the 1098, the Buell FEELS slower, but it is, in fact, faster. The sensation is attributed to the Ducati's nasty little dip in it's torque curve. Essentially, it starts strong, takes a break in the middle, and "re-accelerates" providing quite a sensation. The Heli-Buell on the other hand, like a prize rodeo bull, leaves the chute with a full head of steam . . . and never stops. I hope this helps. |

Oh My God... What have I done! Courts says: The Heli-Buell on the other hand, like a prize rodeo bull, leaves the chute with a full head of steam . . . and never stops. I'm going to ride that Rodeo Bu(e)ll come November! I'm to old to suffer broken ribs and being stomped on. Not too fond of wearing a cowboy hat when I ride either. Am I going to need to hire a rodeo clown too? Asbjorn |

I am a current tuono owner (2004) and am looking at getting the 1125r as a possible addition to the stable. I view the 1125 as more like the mille than the tuono. I really see mille sales dropping due to the 1125 but not sales of the 1098. The 1098 has the looks and most importantly, the ducati name on the side of the tank. The aprilia doesn't have that name recognition so if just comparing machine vs machine, and more importantly, the customer service of the two companies, the 1125r wins hands down. |

Court, so what DO those lucky folks that have ridden the 1125r have to say about it? Obviously, we all hope it lives up to the hype.... |

curtyd: I felt the same way. I had a lone on an 01 Aprilia and backed out for the xb. I only test rode the bike, but it felt like when I opened the trottle I was waiting on rocket to ignite. From the first time I took off on the xb I knew it would fit my needs better. Here I am three months later with 3300 miles on a used 3 month old XB wanting a 1125r. I could have sold the Aprilia for what I would have had in it. O'well I guess if you like to play your gonna pay... I have learned that lesson more than one time before. If I do swing the 1125r I hope it is all I would expect a buell to be. |

Anyone else see the significance of all the comparisons of the 1125R to the Tuono/Mille's? Three months ago, there wouldn't have BEEN a comparison and I'm wondering if the only reason is that the Mille 'mill' (sorry) was manufactured by Rotax. I'm thrilled to see the 1125R being compared (favorably) to the Aprilias. Yay Buell! |

I like the Tuono because it is a neked V-Twin that's not dumbed down because the fairing was removed. |

They have been winning a lot of Moto-ST races on fairly stock unfaired motorcycles. That's very impressive. APRILIA WINS DAYTONA 300 |
