Careful with pre-judging based upon wide angle lens photos and a limited perspective. I like this view...

That is a good picture Blake. I for one, like the styling, it still looks like a Buell. Full fairings would be less appealing to me. I think it's a nice evolution for the line. I wasn't thinking of a new bike since mine is only 2 years old but looking at this makes me reconsider. I've already put my wife on notice.

I can't believe this is what a Buell has become. I would just as soon go purchase any other bike than consider this ugly beast.
My old Falco was a much better looking bike and the Rotax was great but...liquid cooled bikes never look as nice naked as the air-cooled. This bike really has no connection, in my opinion, as the "old school" Buells everyone fell in love with.

I think Buell is missing the mark. Is the horsepower that important or do you think the EPA has made the biggest influence?

As a person who fell wildly head over heels for Buells in the late 80's I'll share something with you. . . . when the RR1200, with its cutting edge (nothing to date is yet "slipperier") bodywork yielded to the RS1200 with its exposed engine. . . gads I thought we were going to have a frickin' overthrow.

All 25 Buell owners (in the United States) were up in arms.

I used to run my RS-1200 to and fro from my office in Topeka to various job sites from the Callaway Nuclear plant in MO to the work I was doing in Johnson County. . I just zippy doo-dahed all over the place. This was it! . . the was the Buell to end all Buells and I could store my jacket in the seat. Life was good.

At each and every milestone in Buell history, I've faced and survived this . . always to discover greener grass, but more importantly broader pastures and more friends.

Don and Phil were great. . . John Mikosh is a prince of a guy but ya know what . . with a Rolodex packed with over 3,500 Buell owners I've met and come to really admire . . . I couldn't be more pleased that the Buell line has expanded.

I have no interest in 146HP. My fascination is with the people who did it and, perhaps as much so, with the new faces it will bring to the world of Buell.

The #1 reason cited for not considering Buell, amongst the lion's share of the motomunity, is "lack of competitive power" and then they go on to name some other bikes.

That is now not only history but like tipping a cake dish you're a rinsing in the sink, the facts just done sloshed to the far end of the bowl. Advantage Buell.

I expect an enthusiastic group of current Buell owners will jump on board. But I expect a much larger number of new faces will be joining us . . . just like they did when the XB's came around.

"didn't consider due to lack of competitive power" will never put Erik's kids through college nor feed that pack of dogs he has. . . And, keep this to yourself, you'll not be long in this business catering to 10,000 "street fighters" a year . . . You have to have a broad range of viable motorcycles. The 1125R "Harrier" adds a significant rung to the ladder.

I'm among those who could care less about HP. I have an S2 that just got its HP doubled by The Wizard of the West. I'll ride it for fun, but for rolling up some serious sightseeing . . . all I really wanted for Christmas was my heated grips.

I was as excited about "my" Buell yesterday as most the world was about the "Harrier" (as a Marine, I totally dig that name).

Court - I'm curious if anyone has hypothesized what the #1 reason for not considering Buell will be next year.

Signguy, that one is easy.

Color!

This new Buell fully qualifies as completely bitchin'. I am a fickle beast, and would really like to see it decked out in angled stripes of red, white, and blue like the Ducati Tricolore of old (1985?).

The new straight stripes of the Duc Tricolore are a mistake. They should have called me and asked.

That thing will look great minus the mirrors and license plate mounting bracket and then add some blue painters tape to the remaining lights.

Add some number plates and my FAT A$$ covered in full leathers passing a Duc or a Trumpet at the track....... That would be perfect!

I'm going to do a track day at Nelson Ledges in N.E. Ohio on July 23rd if anyone from the factory would like to bring one by for a demo. I promise I want crash another one of your bikes...

Here's the grips themselves, looks like they use the blank switch pot on the right side for the control:

http://buell.com/en_us/gear/accessories/Product.as p?Menu_ID=2&ProductLineID=4&CategoryID=7&ProductID =4136

As for ordering a set of grips, and getting the bike as an accessory...well, if you pull that off please let me know how you did it! : )

Can anyone tell me if Buell *finally* made the swingarm ready to accept swingarm spools? It's not entirely clear in any of the pictures I've seen. I know - it's but a tiny speck in the big picture, but a pet peeve of mine for years.

Here's a photo of an '08 swingarm...

Looks like they are still not listening to you. But see, you've been absent so much lately, that they may have decided to wait until next year. You know, the squeaky wheel gets the grease and such. If you need some help squeaking, maybe try those old short pants of yours. You know the ones. joker

Sure is nice to see you pop in for a visit Henrik. : ) You've been sorely missed!

DarkHorseMoto will be manufacturing axle sliders for the 1125R and swing arm sliders if/when Buell gives us a place to mount them.

Fully faired, aka ready 2 race...MMMMmmmmmm

I could/would/will run that bike around MSRC all day long.

Someone PLEASE confirm they'll have this bike available for Inside Pass trackdays later this year, ala "Demo rides"?

I switched from Kwaks because the Firebolt had beauty and soul. The 1125R has neither.

Ouch. I think the bike has gobs of both. Can't wait to get my hands on one, which unfortunately won't be till November when they expect to ship. Not cool to keep us waiting. Finally a Buell with no "I only wish they would've..."

Looks like they are still not listening to you ...

Story of my life ; )

Thanks for the welcome Blake. Been busy with life and such. Maybe I'll try squeaking. Better be in writing though - those shorts are a lot looser since I dropped 25 lbs recently. Now what would that translate to in HP gained? : )

To stay on topic; I like the concept of the bike as well as the power of the motor. The side mount radiators has me wondering (not that I have any better suggestions); the RC51 had cooling issues with it's side mount radiators. Time will tell.

Now, as others have mentioned; slip that motor in a Uly style bike with full sport touring accoutrement and luggage and I just might get out the check book - IF that bike has mounting points for spools : D

Henrik, the picture shows what looks like a hollow axel which with a piece of aluminum or nylon allthread to hold them together and some sliders should work just fine without adding much weight. Just a thought open for suggestions. Bob

Henrik, that is a pic of a Firebolt as the 1125 has the drive sprocket on the other side--so who knows??
And how the heck are ya, BTW??
Are you gonna get this far down the coast on your left coast trip? Did anyone respond to your question on Sacborg cuz I can always stir up Cuzzin Bob and his friends in Portland to give you some info?

Thanks guys - spools are not a big deal, but one of those little things that makes wrenching/maintenance life easier once you've tried them. And since Buell was redesigning pretty much everything, why not get the last detail in there as well.

Bob; I know there are solutions like that, Dark Horse Moto being an excellent example. But if something smaller/lighter/easier/cheaper is possible, why not.

Fireman, I'm good- things are hectic with no sign of slowing down, but I manage to squeeze in some fun time once in awhile. Portland is part fun part purpose so we really won't have time for visiting with friends. I was really just looking for a nice place to stay. Thanks though.

Next time out that way I'll try to make it a longer stay and will try to fit in meeting up with people, ride a few back roads, dive the kelp forests etc.

In real life the 1125R is incredibly hot looking, and that was the word all over the dealer show. Gorgeous European woman were drooling over the bike for days, saying "much sexier than a Ducati", "I must have one", and "Can you take me for a ride". Hey, those are the opinions I care about!

Excuse me Blake, can we check to see if the previous poster had a valid reason to post as Anonymous, or is he just MARRIED like the rest of us?

I guess maybe that would be valid enough in the context above

I liked the 1125 that was at Road America; it's just not quite what I want in a motorcycle. Of course, if the Factory were to put fairing lowers, higher bars and some nice bags on it, they'd have my undivided attention.
Either that, or they could build a factory version of Steve Mackay's bike.
