I was thinking the same thing today. i bet the air ducts could be removed and the radiators could still cool the bike. Id like to see a chopped lightning tail on it also

You guys who say the 1125 is ugly when you haven't ridden one crack me up.

A "pretty" bike is one that handles great and hauls ass. I think the 1125 is beautiful! Function over form. I don't care if it looks like the south end of a north bound mule...if it goes like hell, handles great, and is reliable...it's beautiful.

Amen to that Chad. It's just as bad as criticizing the XB's for not looking like "real" motorcycles (i.e.- Harleys).

Chad what is wrong with having a bike that looks and performs good? Those tupperware bowls on the side are hideous, the rest of the bike rocks.

P.S.
I don't need to ride Rosie O'Donnell to know she is ugly.

Appearance is part of the package. Otherwise we would all be wooed by the VStrom (which IMHO is one of the fugliest bikes ever created).

Chad and I talked about it yesterday. I wait on the current R partly because I would like a different color. I really don't like too much black. Chad says no such thing, but I think there should be some details that aren't black.

I would be more interested in a red, orange, gray, or silver version.

I don't mind the "pods", but then again I like a little junk in the trunk and fake hooters.

yea or everyone wouldn't be driving around in huge suv's with 20 inch rims. I think people who don't think looks count are fooling themselves. It may not matter to you but it does to a lot of people. Look around you, whole industries are built around image and appearance.

Look, for me the bike doesn't look good at all, well it's mostly the front fairing. But it doesn't mean I don't like the spec sheet. The thing for me is I have to like the look of my bike if not I won't keep it. The 1125r will be a great bike performance wise and some people love it already but everything is in the taste and for that everyone is different.

Guys, come on. This ain't any different than the lunchbox (how long did it take you to remove/replace it?). I can assure you that the aftermarket will put a stout effort forth to create a viable (at least cosmetically) alternative to the "tupperware".

I didn't know what to think of the fairing when I first saw it.
The more I stared at it the more it grew on me.
Its function has become beautiful to me.

I really like the fact that there's 6 headlights.
Better yet, I watched the wind tunnel video on the mini site. After seeing how that fairing puts the rider in a pocket of still air I'm sold!
Imagine riding in heavy rain all day and not getting soaked. Imagine riding in 20-30 degrees and not having your hands freeze because that fairing directs the cold air around you rather than on you.

I think a demo ride will change a lot of peoples' minds.

There isn't much room for discussion here. This bike is a styling abortion. I love Buells, but this one is gonna take some time to warm up to.

The list of negatives is too big. Radiators, tupperware shrouds, Power Ranger blinkers, soulless cheesy looking Botox motor, smashed toothpaste tube can, BSA Rocket 3 exhaust tips, bloated misshapen fairing, Gameboy clocks,it just goes on and on. I'm sure the ride is up to the usual Buell engineering excellence, but this bike only comes in black with 6 headlights so you can ride at nite without anyone seeing you.

It's a good thing you're positive about the future of Buell, otherwise they'd go belly-up, I'm sure....
How 'bout designing your idea of what Buell should make ? We won't laugh or call it ugly, well, maybe a little....unless it's really good and pleases everybody, like, er....what is the bike that has pleased everybody again ?

buy the bike you think you want. i wanted an improved motor on the r series but was looking for a 06/07 9r to pick up at the end of this year. the 1125r is now what i will be getting. if they sell like hotcakes, i am sure additional models will be offered. for that matter, additional models will be offered next year anyway. personally, i don't give a hoot if someone else thinks the bike i am riding is: ugly, slow, a lump, etc. y'all have fun.

If they were going to make an S out of it, I'm sure they'd ditch the XBR'ish rear and put a XBS sub frame on it too, as well as snug up the rad scoops.

As for the stock 1125R, I find it visually appealing. First of all, the rad scoops aren't as big in real life as the wide-angle camera makes them look. Second of all, it fits the package well, and provides continued distinction to the Buell line. I can see how, the fact they obscure the front cylinder, would bother people who were attracted to a fully naked bike.

I'm especially happy with the mirrors/LED signals. The mirrors are high and easy to see, and they've basically shaved the turn signals and integrated them into something you'd need anyway. Not to mention it makes the signals high and wide, which improve safety _considerably_, as well as the new fairing includes multiple pair of lights, which helps humans with their depth perception, which also decreases the tendency to do stupid things like take a left-hander in front of you.

The bike is well designed. If you were to take a laundry list of all the gripes people have had about an XBR, and try to address them, as well as many of the new regulations and findings in the world (from emissions, and safety, and such), you would find that most had been addressed in some way. They must have spent a rather good amount of time designing the 1125R.

Time will tell on the sidestand though!

I'm sure there will be people who just don't like the bike. I expect they're probably going to be vocal for the near future. There's people who liked the tubers better too. I'm sure they're probably rather vocal on the board currently. I expect though, that there are plenty of other people out there that will be keen on the new design (when they see it, probably when it gets on the road and starts owning) and be around soon enough.
