EXTREME PAIN IS EXTREMELY GOOD!! The Buell demo on the the Kart track at Homecoming was great!! UNTIL........ I became a Asphalt Surfer! I was the right behind the lead rider when his rear tire lost traction in a VERY tight turn which ended in a high side for him and a low side for me and Etennuly. 3 demo bikes got toasted in a matter of a split second but we all walked away and thats a good thing. My new Vanson mesh jacket didn't do its job very well. The zipper broke and that allowed it to open up exposing my shoulder to Mr. Pavement. Hurt'n Me = Left shoulder, knee, forearm, middle finger Gear = Helmet, jeans, jacket, t-shirt, gloves are all toasted. I still think it was the best demo every!! I just wanted to say thanks again to the EMS guys for getting me cleaned up and down the road. (You can keep the sponge with the scrub brush on it, that part sucked) Thanks to Buell for such great event and I'm sorry I trashed one of your bikes. (I'll see you at Mid Ohio for round 2) I hope Etennuly and the lead rider are feeling better than me and have a speedy recovery!! |

The ride home was good. I was back home by 4:30 and I am moving a lot better than I was yesterday. I talked to Vern (Etennuly) and he is doing fine, just stiff and sore. I have some pics of my gear and leaking body part that I will post later. I can't wait until next year! |

ok here you go. i must say Mark and Vern where troopers, and they where right it was the best demo ride any of us have ever had. there is nothing better than getting to take a brand new bike and flog the $h1t out of it, and not have to worry about it.
my personal favorite
this is the bike Mark laid down
notice something missing?
oops it sprung a leak.... don't worry Mark you will get the bill in the mail...
sorry i didn't get any pic's of Vern "etennuly" but he is too damn ugly i was afraid he would brake my camera.....lol just kiddin........"maybe" |

Just a little JB weld and that bike will be good as new!! On the positive side.... My wife looked at my fatness and said "If you are going to keep pursuing this racing thing, you need to get in shape" Which is way better than the... "Are you outta your mind!! You're not going to start racing at 40 years old!" |

This was the most AWESOME test ride ever!! I talked to the Buell guy that ran the program about being black listed from the demo riding events. He said no more today! But we would be OK in the future. I would have loved to do more if I could have. I can't get my computer to cooperate with the posting of pics, so Gary I will send you a zip file, mebby you can set some up. My Buell riding gear did exceptionally well. I kinda tucked and rolled, I didn't want to slide like someone else did. Jacket's left arm and shoulder got a little scuffed and tore off an external rubber pad, the pants were great(thank you knee pads), scuffed no tears. Boots scuffed up and a smack scrape on the helmet and face shield. I even got some pictures from inside the paddock hospital at Road America, awesome eh? I have six cracked ribs from landing on my arm and elbow, and I sprained both ankles. The race Dr set me up with a prescription for some pain meds that wouldn't make me drowsy or loopy(well more than normal for me). Mark, Wolfridgerider, and I shared a room at the Inn, and I bet that if anyone was listening outside they would have been confused about the groaning and grunting noises. I got up at 4:00 am and wasn't going to attempt to lie back down on the bed. I started packing my stuff. The rib thing is much better in the vertical position, the ankle thing is better in the horozontal....oh well. I headed out at 5:00 am. With a couple of detours it was a 730 mile ride. I don't know if it was the heat or the meds, but I had to stop every 80 miles or so to just get a drink, I think I drank 6 litres of water on the way home. I stopped twice and slept on picnic tables in rest areas. I made it home at 11:00 pm. Man I love this Uly. It sucked up all most all of the screamer road bumps, and I had plenty of room to move around on seat. I found a new position that a lot of worriers won't like, I moved my butt all of the way onto the back of the seat and with its additional width, I just let my legs float in the air with my feet off the pegs(it was necessary at times). Court, thank you for the ride to and from the Boiler Room, and the great stories along the way! Mark, Gary, Gene, I have never ridden with better road riders, I wasn't just glad to ride with you, I was proud to ride with you. What a great event this Homecoming weekend was. THANK YOU ALL. |

You look very lucky not to have collapsed your shoulder too. I had to cover over scabs with gauze and tape when putting on gear. Use some bacitracin, it'll help heal quick. Love to hear you arent giving up riding. I know quite a few people that tell me to quit after a wreck. |

I'll be back out as soon as I get a new rear tire mounted and can get my feet back in my boots. I wear a size 10, but would need a 16 short and wide right now. I wore my sneekers very loosely on the ride home. It only really hurts getting on and off the bike. I found positions that my ribs didn't feel to bad and whenever I moved to stretch or reposition I was reminded that it is best not to move any more than necessary. I find it amusing that your body can make certain involuntary noises, like when hitting one of those sharp bumps on the interstate at 80 mph. I sent Wolf some pics of my ankles from last night, maybe he can post them when he has time, they are kind of a hazy blue/yellow with purple highlights right now, not to mention quite large. Sure am glad I don't have to kick start the Uly! |

I think part of our demise was the fact that the bikes weren't set up for the riders weight and the tire pressure may have needed to be dropped a bit for some better grip. OR..... The testicle mass out weighed the grey matter in our helmet holders..... |
