any word on the gauge cluster for the new bike?

i really hope they take after the other bikes in this market (analog tach with digital speedo)
thats just me, but i think they look great, much better than the xb units and tubers.

also, it'd be awesome to have a programable shiftlight stock.

please tell me they kept the clock as well.

I hope they upgrade not only the cluster, but the switches. I've never been impressed with the dime-store quality switch gear and the little fit'n'finish items such as a clutch cable that blocks access to the tripometer button, etc.

see ive never owned an xb or spent much time around them, didnt know they had that issue.

never had an issue with the switches, and not really sure what other manufacturers switches other that HD are like, and i dont think those look good on buell, too bulky

the switches on the jap IL4's are mickey mouse too. that's because that keeps 'em LIGHT!!!

besides, who's had their switch housings fail? not me. i think that's an irrational fear.

just be glad for the reduced weight.

personally, i'm a fan of analog gauges. but i'll take what i get on there. either way, a lap timer would be nice.... : )

As someone else mentioned, the switch gear on the current Buells are pretty much what you see on your typical ricer. But they don't have the solid fit and finish of HD or BMW switches. Good quality switches wouldn't necessarily add any appreciable weight so my guess is that it's a cost-saving measure.

it's a cost-saving measure.

i'm OK with that...especially since i eventually throw away the stock switches on any bike and replace them with smaller or hidden switches.

Partial laps. It allows you to find where you're losing time.

they came so close to putting a damn gas gauge on it... pity the rest of the xb's dont get some of that technology. Funny how my 15 year old, thousand dollar quad does have a gas gauge. I suppose a Run meter will do for the forest service roads, waiting on the retrofit kit

Good luck on getting a meaningful gas guage on a bike.

I have one on my FXD, it moves from low to high with the fuel but is vague as far as how far I have gone and can go.

The trip odometer is always dead on the money. I know that I'll switch to reserve within a few miles of 160 and that is dead reliable and always on the money.

Top it up, run it down to reserve one time, remember the number.

I know the 1125R is being offered as a sportbike but I'll bet it sees more than a little bit of long distance use. And I'm guessing it will have an easy 200 mile or more range between refills.
