If you have the long one, it has to be replaced as the old ones are known to breakage; to address this, Buell came up with the shock reinforcement package, see pic. this helps in case of breakage but will not prevent it and it looks ugly.
![SRP](http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/3842/290032.jpg) The new shock requires a different front mount to compensate for the shorter distance between eyelets, this is included in the kit for the conversion. You can go to a dealer and run your VIN in the system and they will let you know if the bike has gone through the recalls, if not, I heard that you can still get them for free, but it may take a few calls to HD customer service to get it done. Good luck Mack |

I went through a LOT of calls with Buell Customer Service. The shocks with out a external reservoir appear to not hold their seals well (as in, they fail easily). Works has a deal where they will rebuild the shock - at a pretty fair price compared to a new shock. I got my replacement on ebay. As for what you need to do to find out for sure if you have any chance of getting the shock replaced by Buell - call Buell Customer Service and have your VIN number. If you have a GOOD Buell dealer - they can help argue your case. I have a GREAT Buell dealer - but still was on my own for replacing the shock. |
