Sunday sounds great for me. If we can, lets do it earlier so we don't have to deal with the near 90 degree heat. |

Hey Scotty...I forgot to ask...how did you make out getting home on Tuesday night? You were supposed to be getting off 146 with me but followed Eric...how did you end up going? |

Yeah- I know my way home from Eric's a lot better than from your place, so I grabbed on to his wheel instead. I emailed you a CAD file for the sliders at your work address. It was a 6Mb file-- what's your limit there? Anyhow, here's a JPG:
Any comments from the peanut gallery? |

OK get this...the websites are selling these for $50+ a pair. A 12" long bar makes enough front sliders for 7 bikes @ $12.39 for the material and enough rear sliders for 6 bikes @ $22.10 for the material.... The threaded rod is only $8.65 for a 6' rod - not sure how many axles that gets us but we are still talking less $ for 7 bikes than the cost of one purchased set... That is raking in some dough... So - how many want sliders? I need a firm count before ordering material and any tooling I need for the lathe...(tooling will be at works expense since I need them anyway). I'll have to tweak the design to allow for equipment capabilities but let me know the count of those that want them...we'll toss up designs while material is shipping... |

What's the value of your radii? And what's the thread size/depth? |

How many want sliders? How about how many DON'T want sliders? I say ten bucks and a sixer of Guiness per set to JP to cover materials and labor. |

I'll contribute.I'm sooo jealous though.I was the king of the CNC's at my last job and had ALL of the leeway to utilize as i pleased. This current job, while it has plenty of leading edge CNC equipment, doesn't lend itself well to the government job.The only equipment that does is an old Southbend lathe and Bridgeport.Makes me sad and longing for the old job...I'm sad. We're going for a quick walk uptown,C'ya |

Update with radii:
Greg: I didn't really put all that much thought into the radii; I was more concerned with where the slider engages the axle, and the depth of the contact area so the the slider makes hard contact before the fork/swingarm. I can send you the CAD file if you PM me your work email. Don't really know about the thread, but I guessed a 1/4" rod. Whaddya think? Fine? Coarse? What'll work best for the application? How about some more input to Ramapo or Bear Mountain... Is the Bear Mountain trip going to be a reality or something that just gets talked about...I know Jim only has a few weeks left before the knee gets sliced open... |

Well..i'd consider Bear mountain. But i need a few weeks to generate some money.I could probably do it mid August..Around the same time as last year.I'd figure on heading up friday night, ride all day Saturday and Sunday morning and come back Sunday afternoon.I think the trip is around 4 hours or a little less one way. |

I've called and the Tuxedo Motel still has some rooms available for Friday night...what are your thoughts??? camping or hotel at the middle? I can make the trip with you but need to know soon...I need to take some time on Friday and Monday before and after... |

The slidders look good but need to be deeper into the axle, I would say 1/2" anyways. 1/4" rod is acceptable as they only hold them in. The way they are now the th. rod will be out the other side before any real grip is obtained. WTF is this a Ridding Club or The Breakfast Club? And complaining you want to ride early as it is to hot?! I have heard it all now...Good thing I can't post all day... Well since I can't do any name calling to protect the innocent, I will just say LATER!!!! |

HEY,HEY,HEY!! Watch it Mister! Breakfast is a good start to offer greetings before the ride.I don't care about the heat. As far as the thread depth maximum grip is obtained at 1.5 times the thread diameter. So at 1/4" diameter you'd need about 1/2" max.I'd not want any excess weight added.KISS |
