Blake, I believe they will be mixing in with James Gang Racing which I'm pitting for. I'll ask them straight out if it BS or not. |

Found Motorcyclist mag at news stand. The article is about rotax 60 degree liquid cooled rumors on the internet (I wonder where that came from?) and a photoshop of a XB Firebolt with the rotax and chain drive. |

I just finished reading most of my new Cycle World mag and was struck by the fact that the other manufacturers are gobbling up Buell's technology at an ever increasing rate! One example is the '08 Kawi "Versys". There are other examples. We (Buell) NEEDS a home run hit and needs it now. |

So, is Motorcyclist just repeating or discussing the rumors? Or are the editors just pulling our chains (er, belts) again? Such a fun way to waste time! |

I was browsing through the Rotax web site (as you do) this afternoon and noticed that tucked away in the Snowmobile engine section is an interesting 1288cc V Twin motor that would lend itself very well to motorcycle use. Power is not huge but I'm sure it is very understressed in it's current form, and knowing how far snowmobile engines can be tuned wouldn't be surprised to see 150bhp out of this motor. Maybe this is the new Buell motor, and was there all along ;)
Engine Type 1304 4-Stroke 2 Cylinder OHC (8V) V80° Engine 75 KW / 102 HP 1288 ccm Liquid cooled Dry sump lubrication EMS Warning: These is absolutely no semblance of truth or fact in this message, but just a continuation of the speculation and rumour that fuels this thread so well. Any similarity to true events and products is of course completely intentional and intended to stir things up a bit more than they already are ;) |

Blake: Moto-ST's press release discusses participation by a magazine. The press release is discussed in this thread: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/158 664/288800.html?1183387331 |

No way they can use an 80degree twin. The 60 degree would be a strecth let alone the 80. |

I think will be less than 60 degree ..to enter in xb long frame 56 work well in V-twin configuration .. (Message edited by nicozzzz on July 04, 2007) |

Take a look at the small photo in the bottom right hand corner of www.buell.com, advertising the homecoming. If you squint and stand on one leg you can clearly see that the bike is the new dirt bike fitted with a 80 egree 1288 V-Twin DOHC engine with nitrous injection and twin superchargers That single leading shoe drum brake looks a bit dodgy though.

Just wondering: If someone were to post a real picture of a new '08 Buell before Sunday, would the admin's remove it? |

(just speculation here)... It probably would depend on two things: 1) Was the picture obtained ethically? 2) Could somebody loose their job over it being exposed? So if it was a "fair and square" deal (like Dyna got a spy shot of a bike riding near his house) then I think it would stay. If a supplier employee under NDA had a brother in law snap a shot of some significant part and try and post it, that might go away. It would be a stupid thing to loose a job over. IMHO of course, I am not a custodian. |

I say go ahead and post it, Prof!!!!LOL!! I'll relieve the "pressure". I DON'T have or know of an '08 photo. My question was exactly what it was, with no agenda. With my XB in the shop awaiting an insurance adjuster, I've got more time to waste on-line speculating and searching hidden corners of the Internet looking for a photo that HAS to exist. Right? |

You think the photo above is real? I doubt it, with the high exhaust as the first clue. Nonetheless, it is interesting. Before HD brought out the V-Rod there were some high-quality photos leaked out. The parts guys at the dealership couldn't believe what I showed them and said there was NO way that was a Harley. Heh, some of them STILL believe it's not a Harley! |

"Doubt it no ZTL, underslung muffler, fuel in frame, oil in swing arm...if that is it I wont be buying thats for sure." I can understand if you like the underslung muffler and maybe the ZTL,but why would a new Buell need fuel in the frame or oil in the swingarm? |

"Where did you find it btw??" http://thekneeslider.com/archives/2007/04/17/motor cycle-designs-from-oberdan-bezzi/ I knew it wasn't the real deal, but thought I'd throw it out there..There as much truth to it as some of the other rumors we're hearing!!!! LOL!!! |

I think Erik will be keeping the fuel in the frame and oil in the swingarm for some time to come considering how long it took him to get it into production. I would say the fuel in frame is probably something he is very proud of....pride you do remember that right?? |

Because fuel in the frame is the best design out there, pup. Hell, it's one of the keys of the success of the design in my opinion! Although if it were a motorcycle with no need for fuell... |

"Doubt it no ZTL, underslung muffler, fuel in frame, oil in swing arm...if that is it I wont be buying thats for sure." If it is liquid cooled or a rotax motor there would not be oil in the swingarm, underslung exhaust, etc.. I would think that there would still be the ZTL though. |

Yeah, what has the engine got to do with underslung muffler, fuel in the frame, and ZTL? Remember, the Sportster doesn't have any of that either and yet Erik was able to engineer all those neat ideas into that antique lump of a motor. |

"Because fuel in the frame is the best design out there, pup. Hell, it's one of the keys of the success of the design in my opinion! Although if it were a motorcycle with no need for fuell..." Really, why is that Erik? Many japanese sportbikes don't have fuel in the frame and their fuel is held as low as the XB,fuel in the frame is a great solution for a 45 degree V-Twin,but unnecessary in other engine configurations. |

Exactly...do you think the next Buell is going to be an inline four...doubt it so fuel in frame will prob still be there huh go figure. |
