Is there a reason why it's supposed to be better or is it mainly an appearance thing? I like the way it looks, but if it's heavier and more complicated just for the sake of being one-sided... no thanks. | ||

It is mainly a looks thing. Most likely adds weight and does not improve handling.... I do love the way it looks though! | ||

They claim a reduction of weight. In the FAQ's: "The installation of a single sided swing arm racing suspension kit offers performance improvements due to the combination of different factors such as: * - better torsional and flexural suspension characteristics, for better traction, improved cornering control and anticipated power download out of corners, * - lower vehicle kerb weight, in other words "lightness is rightness" * - lower gyroscopic weights and lower unsprung weights, which improve road holding and bike handling, specially for what it concerns fast angle changes." The only numbers I could find were a shipping weight of 14kg for the SSS kit. But I would imagine that includes the packing and crating. | ||

They say you want some side to side flex of a swingarm because it acts like a suspension when the bike is cranked over allowing the tire to remain in better contact with the track. With a typical swingarm the tire still points in the same direction when you flex the swingarm sideways. With a single sided swingarm the tire direction arcs when the swingarm is flexed. So if they aren't telling the complete truth about handling, I would have some skepticism about the rest of their claims as well.... | ||

If you don't have the removable side frame plate, how much harder is it to change a belt with that swingarm? | ||
