The speedometer on the 3700 mile S2 I just picked up is a little loose and rotates in the dash panel from the vibration. I've got the service manual, and have looked at the exploded view, but I can't determine what I need to do to tighten this up. The nuts that secure the rear cover seem to be tight, but the rubber cushion is just loose in the dash panel. Any ideas?

Also, the two screws holding on the stock CF air cleaner cover are cheesy looking straight slotted flat heads. Should these be phillips flat heads as shown in the service manual, or possibly even socket flat heads?

Thanks for any answers or opinions.

Home Depot is your friend for bolts.
I replaced the air cleaner and body bolts with stainless button head bolts from their bins.

The air cleaner screws should be phillips head. For the speedo, try taking the speedo out of the holder, and running a wrap or two of tape around the speedo body before you reinsert it. I prefer either duct, electrical, or gaff tape. Should tighten it up for ya : )

Harley always used a dab of glue on the rubber to speedo and tack...The rubber is notched to fit the housing and the glue will hold the quage from rotating.
A nice trick is to get a set of rubbers from an FXDP police bike...They had made on visors on them for glare...They fit and look kewl on a Buell S2 dash....
