i'm pretty sure that is incorrect, there were 2 diff sets... one set was the last 4, the second set was the total run of the first set, and the last 4 ...... somebody confirm exactly what it is plz? |

My S2 has the plate stating it's 1365....and the last of the vin is 1365, it's a 1995. Dunno if it helps or not, but it seems fairly obvious to me ;) |

Phat j is correct,2 runs of vin #'s, my 1995 S-2 with last digits of 9S3133258 was built 7/94.--very early build. My original S-2 had a last of 000036, but was built in 1995. So the last numbers of vin not a good indicator. |

Hank, the early S-2 was bought from 2nd owner with a grand total of 5000 miles on it. Never was able to track down the Signature stuff on it. Have it all on my original S-2--the 000036, bike. But as I am at work ,I am unable to look it up. My third S-2 I got from Ebear,he got it from a local wrecker, and it is now my Bonneville racebike. |

I bought my S2 from the original owner. It is a signature series. It was sold 6/14/94 so I assume was built shortly before that. (I have the original sales contract from Hals for $11,900). The last 4 digits of the vin are 3035. M |

Milar, build date will be on steering neck label. You should have the billet triple clamps, the early egg crate style fairing vents, and the recall front fairing bracket. Hank,my early one started with 1B9RT. |

This was a point I was trying to pin down on an earlier thread without anyone understanding my argument. Good to see it getting aired some more. I have the early bike that FMJ refers to, with a 1B9RT....258 VIN. So the issue is: using Onahog's 4MZR...906 as an example. That isn't the 906th S2 built if they started that serial number series at 4MZR....001. The 1b9RT series preceeded it. And I still need a stock muffler sometime in the next two years, please. |

Hmmmmmm....Makes ya wonder if the 1B9RT ... series was counted in the 1399 produced..or if there was 258+ of them built first .. There was an early one up here as well, 1994 produced...I believe it was recalled to death by transport Canada... The SS brake lines and PM wheels werent DOT Canada approved, just ta name a few things recalled.. Maybe Court can enlighten us with his wisdom, or if Erik is browsing around in here???? This would be a good Homecoming topic for one of you s2 dudes who is lucky enough to be going! Hankb |

Onahog: The bike has the signature plate on the motor. Firemanjim: the build date on the steering head is March 1994. The bike is very original including the stock muffler. Thanks for your help! I love the bike. Just completed a 4000 mile, border to border tour on it. M |

Mine is #382 of 1399 built. My build date is 10/13/94. I'm the original owner, I have the Signature Series stuff. I didn't do any of the recalls, mine's still as delivered, although it does have the bolt on front fairing support bracket on it. Ice White Pearl. I bought the Ice White Fairing lowers, and the 3 small soft bags that were available. It has 3,900 miles on it. |
