I absolutely agree with you there, aesthetically, the bikes are at opposite ends of the spectrum. The Hypermotard looks fantastic. |

I can't believe the same guy designed the Multi and the Hyper. That guy is schitzo. |

The Hypermotord and Multistrada share the same engine and frame (not subframe, though), right down to the steering geometry, wheelbase, seat height and suspension travel. It's a gussied up Multistrada underneath... gussied up nice, especially in S trim, but still fundamentally, a cosmetic makeover of the Multistrada with detail differences (even the Multistrada has an S version). I guess we can now say that ugly does NOT go all the way to the bone then?.. lol} |

I can't believe the same guy designed the Multi and the Hyper. That guy is schitzo. Haha! I agree. He has designed some of the best functioning bikes, but also some of those same bikes are the ugliest - Multistrada and 999 come to mind... Thank God the 1098 was designed by somebody else! |

Sexy. Except for that front fender. Enjoy! |

Front fender is function over form design decision, i've ridden 'tards with traditional floppy front fender and its terror on the bike handling, that beak is essentially same as Lightnings front 'fairing', higher speed a bit more bearable experience, in person it doesn't look that bad, honest |

Personally...I like the looks of the Multistrada. It's in the top 3 of replacements for my S3T. The Hyper is cool but it doesn't fit my particular needs for the next new bike. Now if I was going to replace the S1W |

Ducati... My son races vintage Ducati(s) in WERA and the 916 racers still get plenty of attention in the pits for their designs and performance on the track. This was a great design that will have a top place in motorcycle history forever. Ducati has a history of bringing out a bike then changing it a weeee bit each year so I would never buy one the first year. 1098 this year might become the 1196 next year...then then 1198....then finally the 1199, but the result is the 1098 will only the the current model/latest and greatest one year. ST and Monster series are good examples Related to the new Ducatis retros....great looks...but same deal...Ducati has another history of starting with a variant of the 900ss motor then go through all the desmo variants over time so in the end the first years bikes are totally obsolete. ST series again is a good example. Now the Paul Smart with the 1098 motor....is a retro with go...expect it in 2009 or 2010. Interesting topic........which makes me wonder even more about the new 2008 Buell Mike |

I like the Multistrada and the Hyper. Actually I like the 999 and the 1098. I think Ducati makes amazing motorcycles with brilliant design. Much like new BMWs. When you first see a new BMW you think what the hell did Chris Bangle do to that car then you look at it for a while and you realize the guy is a genius. Maybe it is just me but I like Ducatis and I like BMWs. All of them. Nice bike you got there. I give it a thumbs up! |
