Yeah, I had the 3" outlet Boss - darn near a straight pipe; it was loud, but sounded great; especially at idle. The Boss never really bothered me, I usually wear earplugs. Maybe it's that I have not heard it in a while, or running it in the garage, but as you said it's VERY LOUD. It may be too loud, we'll see after a little ride time and a dynorun. It may be for sale soon. Jeff |

SuperTrapp IDS Question- I was reading the instructions for installation of my replacement can. It mentioned that to quiet the muffler, you can install the included silencer. Now for the question... Is the silencer the cap on the INSIDE of the can or the end piece with the elbow? I was just curious because I didn't notice this on the first installation. Thanks, Mennis |

new IDS supertrapp on 95 S2 info needed. Im getting a replacement muffler for my supertrapp external muffler that is falling apart on everyone. Its only taking 3 weeks, they seem to be catching up... I have a 95 S2 and the one that is coming isnt exactly for an S2, they said at supertrapp that they are sending the IDS one out anyway. Anyone used this one on their S2? WILL IT FIT? Problems? mounts different? Any other info will be appreciated too, about disks, experiences on this, anything will be helpful... thanks Jason |

Jason: I think you'll need to get one of the newer 2 1/2" header pipes. On that note - I've been looking for an altenative muffler that'll work on an S2 with the race header. Now that Supertrapp make their muffler with the elbow welded on, it seems only the Buell race muffler will work (the new D&D is still kinda new). I guess it'd be possible to cut off the elbow and rig a connection piece. Anyone tried something like that. Henrik |

Jason, I saw the Supertrapp rep at a show in Holland. He had the new IDS on display and I asked him why he was showing a 2-1/2" model when we are supplied bikes with 2" headers. He told me that over here, they come with an adaptor to take it down to 2". PPiA |

For anyone with the Streetfighter exhaust: Definatley install the street baffle. It might not be quite as loud, but it improves performance greatly. And still it's louder than any other system. |

Bigun283, I've got the Streetfighter on my M2. I found the baffle helps below about 3700rpm, but is weaker above 4800 or so. I've got SE1 cams, Mikuni 42, heads done by Cycle-Rama. Cycle-Rama dyno-tuned it with & without the baffle. I'm trying to get the reults scanned so I can post them. It's not a significant amount of difference, but definitely a bit better at higher rpms without it. What did you find? |

hey m200 contemplating the same pipes but there was an earlier post about one breaking apart have you heard or seen any problems yet and as far as the weaker above 4800, if i'm at that in 5th i'm over a hundred anyhow. still would like to know how it is without the baffle also. |

I have run the streetfighter exclusively at the track for the past 2 years and have had no problems whatsoever with well over 200 passes at full throttle gallops...With my setup on the dyno the pipe makes 3 more pounds of torque and the torque comes in 300rpms earlier without the baffle.... |

I dunno. I do know that they do not sponsor this web site. If you have a question for Sport Twin, the best thing to do is to pick up the phone and give Derick a call. Sport Twin is missing Brad Galbraith who has gone on to law school of all things. Derick is doing his best to cover the parts counter, the dyno, the web site, and email. He has asked that we contact him via telephone in preference to email. Where five minutes on the phone with Derick might answer all questions, it might take a dozen emails to cover the same situation. |

Tried a couple of different exhaust systems over the past three years, finally came full circle and installed the stock muffler. Seems to make a little less mid-range, and as far as I can tell, makes really good top-end power. Now when I cruise for a couple hours (always wear ear plugs) there is no more slight ringing in the ears (tinnatus), which indicates that the nerve endings in the inner ears choclea are dying (re: loss of hearing acuity). Good power and preservation of hearing = a good thing. |

Schemky, Would you summarize your observations about the Edelbrock? I'm about to buy a muffler for the race header and frankly am trying to wait for someone to post dyno results for the Donn and Al versions of the Stainless specialties. If that doesn't happen soon or the results poor, I had planned on the edelbrock. Bill |

Oldman, Sorry, I haven't been here in a bit. My friend had his crack at the front mount. But Johnny sent him a new Streetfighter with a new mount system. I haven't had any problems with mine so far & it has about 7000 miles on it. The only reason I run the baffle is I do a fair amount of putting around below 3000 with my girlfriend. I'd run it without the baffle unless it runs poorly at the rpm you're normally at. I'm still waiting for my friend to scan them. |

Oldman, Sorry, I haven't been back here in a bit. I run the baffle on mine mostly because I do a fair amount of putting around under 3000rpm with my girlfriend on her 250. A friend of mine had his crack at the front mount, but Johnny sent him a new Streetfighter with an improved front mount.I have about 7000 miles on mine with no problems. I'm still waiting for my friend to scan the dynos. I'll post them when he does. |

be looking forward to seeing the stats with that pipe. does he have any other mod's to his bike. also trying to be at speedway on the 9th for test ride and battletrax. posted my dyno on forcewinder knowledge vault. that gives me something to start with anyhow. |

It's my bike actually regarding the dyno's. A computer geek friend (he rides a 929 so I don't really consider him a geek) has my dyno charts & is going to scan them for me. He just bought a house so I can't push him too much! My M2 has had the heads done by Cycle-Rama with stock Thunderstorm valve sizes (but better & lighter nitride valves), forged JE pistons, Mikuni 42, SE1 cams, & carbon fiber race intake. Both my bike & my friends S1 with stock thunderstorm heads & Streetfighter exhaust (his cracked) reached peak torque around 4000 & peak hp & torque were almost identical. |

I have a new Force pipe but havent installed it yet. While I was waiting for it to come in I broke my engine. My pipe came with no provision for bolting the baffle on. Any ideas ? I havent had much time to work on this. What little time I have had was spent figuring out what to do about pistons and heads etc.Thanx Evan |

Even, From what I have heard the baffle is just a waste of time and money. It does very little to quiet the bike and they are notorious for blowing right out of the pipe. Just bolt that sucker on without the baffle and piss off your neighbors!! |

The only down-side to the force(so far) is that it blows the exhaust right onto the swingarm and jiffy stand. It doesn't make for a good look on a chrome(or polished) swingarm. I am going to have a small shroud welded onto the tip of the pipe(or I may use the baffle for this experiment) to direct the exhaust elsewhere. My bike sound like a Top Fueler....Makes all the guys envious. |

Dave, I am supposed to be in Daytona a week from today in the a.m. I know I will see you there. I will be at AMI mostly. But I hope to venture out a bit. The Beast is indeed alive and kicking. Sounds badder than ever. I have a new story to tell about a spectacular crash & burn(not me).... Loki, I LOVE YOU MAN!!!! I really wish you could be down here for the big event this year. |
