Hmmm, some interesting tidbits on that 'red bike' either way. Aren't those the 'michigan-made'wheels someone recently mentioned? Sweet! Single-sided swingarm, dual front discs. Nice. |

#1 Just so everyone knows, when you google "OHMYGOSH" you get 48 pages full of images of everything in the world, except Buells. #2 http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/327 77/288019.html?1182963477 I think this is Court's biggest hint of all!!! After all isn't this an anniversary year for Buell? H-D LOVES anniversary models, and this is also the 30th anniversary for the release of Star Wars Episode IV A New Hope... I think the 2008 Buell will be a tribute bike designed by George Lucas and produced by our friend at OCC. The main inspiration for the build was the Millenium Falcon, piloted by that lovable rogue Han Solo and his lifelong friend Chewbacca. The bike will be piloted from a permanently mounted side car and come with Hyperdrive technology??? But, I could be wrong??? http://www.blueharvest.net/images/scheme/sch-falco n.gif (Message edited by bmonty72 on June 27, 2007) |

Buell is engineering a new kind of okra with a lower center of gravity, a shorter sprout base to improve (ease of) handling, underslung roots, and it keeps its food in its stalk. That's the news we've all been waiting for. Oh yeah and it's a red plant. Sam |

If Rotax power is introduced, it would take a sudden, serious effort to train techs and to educate dealers, and they did get a 2 year notice about the dirt bikes. Maybe an RR evolution is more logical. Enough new features to count as a significant power improvement without alienating the faithful. Then again, go for it with a Rotax and yank franchises from the whiners! Stand alone dealerships!!! |

Wow, if people are complaining about the ZTL brake, they area really going to complain about that mag-lev front end on that bike! BTW, ZTL is quite cool. |

Seems like Buell has Court take us all on Snipe hunts more than Court actually gives us hints. He is probably paid to make us look the opposite direction when and if a leak actually occurs. Sleeping with the enemy. Just a thought. I like Court either way though. |

Doods - The "hiding in plain sight" bike Court is referring to is indeed this one: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/327 77/287942.jpg Notice how it's the only one not being denounced by Anony? The radiator is under the motor, which is why the exhaust got scooged out toward the rear. As far as being "red", well I guess Court's referring to the amount of parts being sourced in China now.... |

As far as being "red", well I guess Court's referring to the amount of parts being sourced in China now.... China simply isn't a significant supplier of parts for Buell. In order of value, American companies are the largest suppliers, followed by countries in western Europe, then Japan. } |

Wow... he didn't either... That said... It's probably more of a "we just don't make comments on future models" things. For some reason I just don't see Buell letting the RR cases go to waste. I mean... the thing comes with a near street quiet exhaust for crying out loud... at 157HP no less... However... I don't think I've read where an anonny has disputed the Rotax thing... |

On a slightly different tack.... Scott Parker rode the new H-D XR1200R at Goodwood Festival last week, and reports from MCN say that the bike he used was a production model complete with 'proper' frame numbers (as opposed to prototype numbers) and fully approved exhausts etc. http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/News/newsresults/mcn/2007/June/june25-jul2/june2507videogoodwoodfestivalofspeed2/?&R=EPI-92219 Comments by Scott about the great power and handling of this bike would appear to put the XR1200R firmly into traditional Buell customer territory, and will certainly appeal to those who mourn the loss of the tube frame bikes in particular. This foray into the Buell customer base by H-D begs the question ' Where to for Buell?'. Are we to expect much more sport/race focussed road/dirt bikes from Buell, allowing H-D to take over the 'naked streetfighter' niche? Knowing UK H-D dealers like I do, I can see them pushing the new Sportster XR1200R much harder than they currently market the Buell lineup, so where does that leave Buell?

I found something interesting on Buell.com in the gallery for the firebolts...anyone know what the pipe going down in front of the motor is supposed to represent?? None of the other illustrations show this. http://buell.com/common/07/firebolt/XB12R/gallery/ 584/illustration.jpg (Message edited by dongalonga on June 28, 2007) |

"But you arent disputing the fact that this is indeed the next buell?!?!" The author of that photo admitted it was just a guess. It's basically this photo: with turn signals, lights, exhaust and Firebolt tail added. I think it looks great too, but don't get your hopes up. |
