Or is it just me? Happens all the time. Hopped on the stationary bike in PT the other day. Guy crusin' beside me never looked up. Made some motor noise, leaned into some curves, gettin' bored. Stuck my arms out and flew a bit, some swoops and dives, one roll. Then, being the sociable sort I am, I rolled to an idle, looked over at my fellow rider. "Hey man!! Wanna run that rag"? He peeked to see if I was talking to him. "Excuse me?" he says. So being polite, I repeated my challenge. "But we're not really moving." No smile, no nothing. "Oh" says I. Geessh!! Just born with no humor? How do they survive? I think I scare some folks just trying to be friendly. Maybe I'm over exuberant. Went to a lady's new house a while back, big house, she was proud and excitedly telling me all about the house her husband had bought her, and what a job keeping it clean was going to be. "He did get you a riding vacuum to go with it, didn't he?" Blank look. Long silence. "Well...uh....it's got central." I think she felt slighted "Oh, uh, well, central's great. What did you call me out here to fix?" Do they think I'm really that stupid? May be the way I look. Am I the only one? Does this happen to anybody else? Most folks just come right back at me, and it's fun. Even Beck's starting to catch on, took her a while, at least two or three anniversaries. Got a lot of those "are you SERIOUS" looks. Pearls? Corn? I don't know, but it sure messes up a nice conversation. I don't know how to stop it though, just have to take my chances. |

You would love Australia then, we think we all have a great sense of humour,no one would have missed the humour in your comments, Conversation here is like a good natured tennis match. |

Don't feel alone, I was told by my sons that I have what they refer to as "Alternative Humor". Some people just don't get it! (Message edited by ragnagwar on June 27, 2007) |

There are too many people out there who are humor challenged. Keep it up, maybe they'll catch on someday. |

Thanks, I just needed a little reassurance. May be corny, but pearls all the same. Since I'm not all alone in this, I'll just blunder on, it's too late to change anyway. When I stop seeing the humor in life, bury me before I start to smell. Maybe these people can be tested and wear a sign "Won't get it". Or I might get one "If my mouths open I just might be kidding". Maybe I need one of those walkabouts. Rotzaruck!!! |
