OK.. Soooo.. What's everyone got planned for the coming weekend? I'm going to try and get my bike into Winchester Buell Wednesday for a few minor checks and service type things .. my usual servicing dealer said it'd be 'a few weeks' before they could fit me in and I don't have that kind of time... I've got a lot of pictures to sort and start posting on the web page. IF I get the bike done and everything is ready to go, well.. Saturday - Nothing planned. Sunday - May drop bike at Summit Point. Monday - Riding Summit Main w/TPM. Tuesday - Nothing planned. Wednesday - Nothing planned. Thursday - Back to work when I wish I was getting ready to go to Homecoming.. Oh well.. I miss it again.. And that's what my coming week looks like.. so far.. Anybody got anything else? Anyone gonna be riding Summit Main? Inquiring minds want to know... |

Just wondering the same thing. My wife and I are heading out July 4th and stopping the night in Elkhart, IN then travel on to WI from there. Since I only have the XB and there are two of us, one of which won't ride 800 mi, we are taking the truck up w/ the bike in the back. |

I'm heading up on the 4th, also, by trailer....not really looking forward to the 14 hour drive. I suspect I'll need to rest somewhere along the way, too. |

My buddy and I are doing the WW II memorial and Marine Corps Museum ride this Saturday. We're meeting up at the Frederick Harley at 0900 if anyone is interested. I'll be on my black 2002 M2 Cyclone. Should be a good weekend for everyone to get out on their bikes regardless of where you go. Be safe. SF/ Malk |

Bad News in the tuber world....The X-1 took a big ole dump on me the other day. Seems I broke my triple row primary chain somehow and it decided to make some holes in my primary cover. I also know that it made a minor crack in the case that I should be able to weld up, but I haven't gotten into it enough to decide if it can be done. I'll get some pic up of the carnage as soon as I pull it apart so you guys can shutter from the horror. The amazing part is that I was able to keep the bike on 2 wheels when it let go and spewed hot primary oil all over the rear tire (there is a hole about 4" across on the bottom of the cover where the chain escaped onto the road. I went back and got the chain and saw the oil streak was about 200 ft or so long. Scary stuff!! BTW, this was the stock unit with only 22.5k miles on it.... |

Bluelightning, sorry to here about your loss. Reading your post makes me wonder how safe my old X1 is I have the 2000 Racing Stripe with 27,000 miles on it. I use it to commute to work and some long local rides and that's about it. Are you the Karl I met in Lavale, Md at the last local BRAG event? K |

That sucks about your tuber. I keep teetering back and forth about selling my S1 because I am terrified of something like that happening. I took an impromptu ride up to Skyline last weekend and posted some pics in the Tale Section. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/681 7/289524.html?1183559872 |

Bab, Yep, it's me. I make it sound worse than it is. I look at it as an opportunity to change some stuff out and get a little more power out of it! Cereal, Keep the S1! I think that mine happened due to a combination of taking the stock parts beyond their limits, continuously running at high RPM's, and my starter was beginning to have some problems again. Last time the starter tore a few teeth off the ring gear and starter gear! I think that this was the case again, but a chunk of broken tooth must have gotten caught up in the chain this time around. |

Got some pic of the damage and what the bike looks like all torn apart up on my photobucket account. Hope this works: broken cover: http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb146/skjett/10 1_0604.jpg big hole: http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb146/skjett/10 1_0605.jpg Broken motor: http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb146/skjett/101_0597.jpg Out on the lift: http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb146/skjett/10 1_0599.jpg Empty frame: http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb146/skjett/10 1_0600.jpg Heavy chunk: http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb146/skjett/10 1_0601.jpg Taking the carcass home: http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb146/skjett/10 1_0603.jpg Still amazed at the empty frame!: http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb146/skjett/10 1_0602.jpg Note really close in the pic of the motor that there is some fairly bad scoring in the tranny area where it looks like a broken tooth got under there and grabbed one of the tranny gears. It will go out to the machine shop this week and get welded back up. Should have it back and ready to re-assemble in a few weeks! All in all, the damage was not that bad. I will need a new chain (obviously) a ring gear for the starter, a new primary cover (good thing I have 3 spares!!), and the machine work. I guess I got lucky on this saga! Bab, Yep, I was running about 45mph when the chain let loose. You can tell by a few of the pics that I hang out at an "old school" bike shop where the guys there prefer pre twin cam motors. The "random panel of experts" that stop by to give their 2 cents and drink beer were in awe of how my Buell went together. |

Well, Homecoming was great but I only saw one other MD/DC/VA Buell'er there...T9r. Seeing as next year is the 25th anniversary of Buell, it would be nice if more people from our area attended. It really is an event everyone should go to at least once, even if it's a 14+ hour drive. |

Is anybody doing Total control with me tomorrow? If you are still thinking about it you can come on site to where the class is held at Frederick CC Bldg B 223, on campus. They do have riding gear requirements, no jeans! Tracy said there are 2 spots still available, I think I just had another rider say he was going to go. here is the note from Tracy the instructor for tomorrow....... Kathy, Yes I have two spots open for tomorrow. I need your friend's name and phone number today and he can register at class on Saturday. He can pay by a check made out to the college or a credit card. See you tomorrow. Tracy |

hey were was everybody who wanted to sign up for Total Control for July 14? You all missed an excellent class What I learned was Body position, vision, suspension (better than the usual tech talk we get at a HD dealer), line selection, throttle brake transition, and the 10 steps to proper cornering. Maybe next year? I feel like I could ride in the intermediate group at VIR now! You all missed a good class! |
