I've been looking around for a good on board or on-helmet video camera setup; I'm undecided between a tank mount and a direct camcorder application or a bullet cam. I've been looking at some popular tank mount options, but so far, that seems to be limited for Buells. Any of you have a nice setup that you'd care to share and discuss? Thanks, Nick |

Ram Mount makes some options, but I don't own one yet. My frustration is with the modern camcorders. I have a really nice Sony hard drive based video camera, but it does not take an external mic input. I want to be able to feed sound from my intercom system while recording video. But so far I have found no way to do this. |

I have been using the Ram mounts, and I really like them. If you can't find a solution from all the options Ram has, you ain't lookin'. I take video from a digital camera that has video capability. A 2G SD card gives me 43 minutes of 30FPS video. The great thing about SD is that it is solid state unlike a head drive or HDD, so it's less susceptible to vibrations. The audio isn't great, but that's always a rough point for cameras. |

I like the ram mount on the right side. I got the long arm and tilt it down behind the screen. You really don't want to catch a rock or a bug in your lens. I haven't figured out how to do it yet, but the video software I downloaded can have a voice over and/or a soundtrack added after the fact. |

I use a RAM mount with a bullet cam and a Canon ZR80 camcorder. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/476 23/273035.html I originally tried mounting the camcorder right to the RAM mount, but it was too heavy. The picture was shaky, and the camera actually vibrated loose. Now I'm considering a portable DVR solution to replace the camcorder (e.g. an Archos). |

Thanks for sharing. That's a nice setup Sanchez; I think that's what I'll do. I'll go do some research for the mount. As for the bullet cam, where did you get yours and do you have any recommendation on the model, and price paid? There seems to be a few options out there. Thanks again, Nick |

Nice video Galloper. I didnt expect so many curves. The bus you met in the curve on that narrow road could get exciting. |

Also Working on video system... using a Hoyttech bullet cam, integrated stereo condensor mics, and recording to a Neuros Recorder 2 that uses CF, SD, and/or Memory Stick. http://www.neurosaudio.com Recorder 2 is small, lightweight, and records direct to MPEG4. Working on making the rig portable, and adding remote on/off, plus hook up to a Geostamp gizmo that records GPS NMEA output onto an audio track for later retrieval. http://www.icircuits.com/prod_geostampaud.html The whole crapola should be similar in size to a DVcam, but all solid state (no moving parts)... stick it all in a small Pelican case and go! Maximum, the latest Autocom systems have an audio out to allow for recording what's piped into your ears. |

Thanks, I did slow down enough to feel safe with that oncoming bus... notice the roadkill in that left curve (Message edited by Galloper on June 26, 2007) |
