Barreling down my driveway tonight - after a very interesting Bikers Rights meeting, I stopped, put a Johnny Reb boot down on half an inch of wet leaves and mossy concrete - slightly off balance from the hard stop - and I started slipping around like an episode of the Keystone cops. Crunch goes the XB12X on its side. Amazing bike. Not a scratch on it. It did land on the leaves too. Popped the hand guard off its mount - there might be a tiny mark on it - but it will take daylight to tell. (I did a similar thing to cruiser test bike and it cost $7K to fix - doh!) Worse thing about it all was I squashed the Ice cream I stopped especially to buy for being a good boy and going to politics. Where's the Karma in that I asks ya? going back a few years at daytona doing the battletrax i saw first hand what happens when you drop your buell and how little happens to it when the guy who won, (i want to say it was aaron wilson but could be wrong)had not only dropped it once but then a second time. bent shifter and broken clutch lever and a couple of scratches if memory serves me right. my ultra wasn't as lucky from what i've gathered when the older guy who had it before me dropped it. btw, i was just talking about you to my brother who's daughter is heading over to new zealand to work on a farm of some kind and he had said it might give him an opportunity to not only head over there but stop in austrailia for a while. that's when i mentiioned you and since it seems like you get around quite a bit, you'd be the person to look up if he does make it there. he's got a 92 ultra and never rode a buell before mine about 5 months ago. then he said something about getting into trouble with it. |
