I learned something today as well then! The TT is a cool bike - Shelton's HD/Buell in Goldsboro has one on the showroom floor. Ask for John Martindale in sales. He's a Buell fan and a good guy as well. Carlos and Mark both bought their Uly's from him. Their service department is good as well. Lee the service writer is up on Buell issues, etc. and a tech named Bud does all the work on our Uly's and M2.

Alan,

You need to get in touch with Carlos (M2NC.) The BRP is just a short jaunt from your location -- eyes wide open and follow him

G2

Wide open eyes only work if you keep them on the road.

Carlos and I have been married for 18 years this October and trust me, sometimes his rides are as much for him as they are for me! He's come home to his bags packed and a call already into Bigdaddy telling him that Carlos was on his way!

You can see why these past 18+ years have not been tough. She also put the money down on the Honda and told me to get it or loose the deposit.

Dangerfwd - When I was looking at the Uly, I was concerned with the height. So I talked to John @ Shelton's and set up a test ride first by myself, then one with Kristi. I do not know how I rode the bike with the '06 Standard Seat. I put that seat on the Uly here recently and man, I was tip toeing. I liked the XB chassis but needed something bigger because Kristi and my 12yo daughter both ride with me. You just need to go and see what works for you. Like everyone has already stated, go test ride and see what you like. If I was going to buy a second Buell to complement the Uly, it would be an XB9R Firebolt. The 9 motor is smoother than the 12 even though it does not have the low end grunt of the 12. With the race kit the 9 motor will keep pace with a 12 though. Happy hunting!

As for other makes, it does not matter to us. Most of us are guys with mortgages and families so no squids but like to be able to ride twisty roads. I categories my riding as twisty road cruising. I usually set a pace within the few mph of the speed limit and ride no matter how sharp the road ahead is as long as I can see. Its a blast. Keep us informed on the hunting.

Dangerfwd; buy the Uly. It has a seat that will allow 700+ mile days, long travel adjustable suspension, and it has more luggage capacity than one person could realistically use. I use mine for commuting, traveling, strafing twisted roads, and highway travel.
I realize that it's a little more than you want to spend, but you won't regret the purchase once you get it.
Take a demo ride. It will sell itself.

Carlos,
Again thanks for the hospitality and sharing your opinions. What you describe about riding style is dead on with what I appreciate. I live between Raleigh and Goldsboro, so Kristi's advice on Shelton's is well taken.

Crusty,
I like your approach. First your recommendation, then your perspective and opinion. Again, Uly test ride here I come.
