For taking money on his latest bag of tripe. Just saw the new Fantastic Four movie. I'm thinking about bringing a class action lawsuit for damages due to criminal waste of time. You'd think Jessica Alba could have been fitted with a set of blue contact lenses that didn't look like rejects from Lou Ferrigno's Hulk costume. Hope against hope of seeing a decent shot of JA was dashed in that she didn't even look good in this movie. The characters all seemed linguistically retarded. What the hell is it with super hero movies these days? Spiderman 3 was horrific as well. I like my hero movies without 47 gallons of blubber and snot, thank you! Since my buddies and I saw the worst movie since Ishtar, Eragon, we have been ranking movies on the "Eragon Scale". The higher the number the farther from Eragon and the better the movie. A score of 1 is equal in abhorrence to Eragon. In the unlikely event that there is a movie worse than Eragon, we will change the scale. This movie was a solid 2.0, closest in awfulness yet. Spiderman was a 2.8. 300 on the other hand was a 9.0. Save your money, boys, for when you really, REALLY fancy an ass wax or paying someone to kick you in the nuts. These pursuits would be a better use of your resources. It will gross $250M only because there are 31,250,000 suckers who will get taken. |

I hope this isn't true. Silver Surfer was one of my favorite comics as a kid and I already have tickets to see it on Sunday. Haven't seen Spiderman 3 yet, but I did like Eragon. Here's to hoping we have different tastes in movies. |

Batman is the only superhero. He's the only hero that dosn't have super human powers. He's just a normal guy with lots of money for cool toys to help him and the ability to kick ass. -Barge |

Most you guys probably can't remember flash gordon..back when it was televised in black and white, special effects where laughable but we all pretended not to notice the strings used to make the rocket ship move. |

Batman's not a superhero at all! Just like you said, he's the only hero that dosn't have super human powers. That makes him a rich hero. Nothing Super about him! |

I hope this isn't true. Silver Surfer was one of my favorite comics as a kid and I already have tickets to see it on Sunday. Then you will enjoy it. The problem most people have is understanding that the movie has to convey in 2 to 3 hours what comics have done over decades. Much like S-M3, if you know the back story or have read the comics and know the history than the story is great and makes sense. It seems a little crowded but hey you only get so much time in a movie. S-M3 wasn't as great as S-M1/2 and I wish Venom could have got his own spot light but again it would have taken another 2 movies... |

I read all the comics which is part of the problem. The comics were so much deeper than the movie. The depth of meaning was lost so that the deep statements from the characters just seemed lame. Some of the problem is director artistic license. I don't think ANY Batman fan liked the abominations that passed as movies. Whereas "Batman Begins" was awesome! I guess I just wanted more substance and less form. |

Spiderman 3 was ruined do to the corporate dick heads I believe at Sony. The director only wanted to use one evil character and stick with the comic book stories. Corporate forced him to put in more evil characters and screw up the movie. And that is why it didnt do well at the box office. If corporate would have keep out of it. They movie would have made more money than it did. But once again some dick head at Corporate knows more than people who pay to see the movies.. This has been a bad year for movies. Shrek 3 sucked..to many characters and all over the place. Pirates 3 sucked..to many characters and more about Geffrey Rush character... I dont think big wigs at the corporate level will ever understand that putting more money and making things bigger and blow up bigger works. Just a good story line and not have 20 different characters in one movie works. Just like Oceans 13. So many great characters/actors but not enough time to really get to use their talents correctly and they get dilluted to nothing.. |

Does nobody make "Original" movies any more? All we seem to get is remakes of comics, or film versions of tv series, or sequels. I love going to see good original films, & some I can watch again & again & enjoy them just as much. Blazing Saddles is one Blade Runner is another, I'm just fed up with all the crap movies that keep getting hyped to hell. Must be getting old. Nostalgia's not what it used to be. |

I'm fortunate in that I don't seem to notice the ancillary stuff. If the basic plot is good, I get sucked into the show almost as if I were reading a novel and my mind can make it all artistically acceptable. This character flaw allows me to enjoy some otherwise really horrendous theater. The one thing that will knock me out of my self-induced movie-mind-mode is blatantly flawed real-world science or engineering, like when the entire weight of a jumbo jet is supported through one small point on its fuselage, stuff like that. Unimaginable science fiction gadgetry/capability (who want one of those little scanners from Star Trek, LOL) or superpowers, worm-holes through space, force fields/shields, particle beam weapons, teleportation, miraculous mutations, ghosts, monsters, ESP, etcetera, I can dig just fine; but when a film violates the most basic laws of physics in the most rudimentary ways, it diminishes my enjoyment of it. That said, I'll probably wait for the PPV release. Would be nice if PPV offered wide screen HDTV. |

Well said Blake! It's part of the reason I LOVE the new direction of the new Bond movie. The Q gadgets just became too ridiculous. The new one has virtually NO gadgets, Bond sweats, Bond bleeds, Bond even changes his shirt. It was beautiful. |

SciFi Weekly gave it a pretty good review: http://www.scifi.com/sfw/screen/sfw15997.html I find their reviews generally agree with what I'm looking for in movies, scifi/fantasy ones anyway. Ft_Bstrd, you'll be glad to know they thought Spidey 3 sucked too. |

Hughlysses, they're geeks. Distract them with enough T&A and they'll say anything is good. There was more Jessica Alba than Kirsten Dunst. Think I'm wrong?
Force enough blood away from the brain and even Blake won't be able to recognize the scientific shortcomings of the feature. |

OK, FB, I went to see the movie today. I think I agree with your assessment. What WAS up with the weirdo blue contacts? She just generally looked odd in the flick. |

Well, I went and saw the movie. The contacts were a little odd, but I enjoyed the movie anyways. I guess I go into a movie with lower expectations then you all. I know they can't reproduce the comics, but I think it is cool to watch characters I used to read come to life in the movies. I thought the silver surfer was awesome. It is pretty amazing what they can do with special affects. |
