Well lets start by saying I have never owned a bike before in my life. I walked into my local Harley shop just going to waste some time. my girlfriend and I were waiting for another store to open. I was looking at the bikes I have been eying up buells for over a year now. her words were "why don't you try and get you one" : )

That was all i needed to hear. I bought a 2004 XB12R black with black wind screen and the Translucent Amber wheels and a touring some thing LOL(newbie) its the part that handle bars mount to it repositions the hand grips. the bike looked new no scuffs new z6 Metzler tires and 6343 miles on the bike. got it for 6999 with 2 buell helmets out the door. I put 450 miles on it in one week. I am sore and going on my first poker run tomorrow. My dad and I are going to have some quality time. Tell me what you think about my deal or no deal. Loving the bike, and my girl friend now wants to leave me, oh well

I'm not really sure how much one should go for, but under 7K out the door sounds pretty good for a clean one to me. Be careful on it since it is your first bike. Take the MSF course immediatley. I don't want to see pics of your bike all busted up and read a story about how bad the road rash hurts in the next couple weeks.

You probably have the Helibars installed on your bike.

That is a smokin' good deal! Enjoy and yes, please do get yourself through a good new rider's course. The folks at your dealership may even host just such events, called "Rider's Edge" by H-D/Buell dealers.

If the girlfriend can't get over it, then find another one.

Pretty good deal on the bike with the extras out the door.
Ditto on the MSF or equivalent rider's ed course. Then, get some protective gear. The Black Tee Shirt of Invincibility won't save your skin when some soccer mom w/ a cell phone turns her SUV into your path.

yeah if u need gear and cant afford it checkout the ran part of the forum..there is a gear assistance thing goin on....let us know if u need some decent gear to get u by until u can afford some on ur own...a new bike can be spendy and often times leaves u without enough $$$$ for decent gear...at least we know u got a helmet : ) .

First: Get on the waiting list for MSF or similar training ASAP. I also recommend
the book "Total Control" by Lee Parks.

Second: Please wear all of your gear. It is NEVER too hot to wear the jacket, gloves,
helmet, boots, and at the minimum blue jeans or better yet riding pants or a 2-piece suit.

I was at one point held together by soft tissue and my 2 piece suit after being hit
by a car. No one ever expects it to happen to them.

Look here for donations from other badwebbers if you need gear but are having a
hard time affording it...
http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/boar d-auth.cgi?lm=1177380889&file=/42/270673.html
all the donors ask is that you try to return the favor to someone in need down the
road, and sometimes for the cost
of shipping the item to your door.

Either it's the bulb, or the ground may have come loose.
