I wonder about some things. For instance, there's the usual threads about lousy HD dealership experiences going on right now. Also, although this is a Buell-oriented site, there's also threads about other branded bikes, as well as cars, just as Blake has always tolerated. It seems many of us have a much better experience in here than we do at HD shops.

Thing #1: I wonder how many people have either never purchased, or purchased then abandoned, Buell products because of experiences in a HD dealership.

Thing #2: I wonder how many people have purchased or come back to Buell because of experiences in here.

Thing #3: How is it that Blake is able to give us a place to hang out and "belong," without even being affiliated w/HD, while dealers cannot?

Thing #4: Don't want to give you a big head, Blake!! But thank you.

Buell, BadWeb, Blake, Court, and the population of BadWeb are unique. All remain unreplicated with any other product or manufacturer.

If you look at a Buell as just another motorcycle, you simply don't get it.

We are all part of something very cool.

Thank you everyone for being part.

#1 Good Question. I wonder?

#2 Add me to that list.

#3 Sad, but true.

#4 +1 Thanx Blake.

For every bike I've had in the last few years (several by different brands) there have been similar websites/forums. They are very helpful indeed. Badweb is a good one as well. Thanks to all who contribute.

#1. I almost did, But it was another Buell dealer that made everything better and got me started off on the right foot with my Buell adventure.

#2. I already had my Buell when I got here. But if it wasn't for the stuff I found out on the board, I'd have been stuck on the side of the road, 80 miles from home, with a bad kickstand switch 7 years ago. That's why I am hardcore BadWeb to this day.

#3. Because Blake was assimilated by Erik Buell, and now it's his job to assimilate more of us.

#4. Yeah Blake, thank you. We haven't always agreed on issues, but I always supported your right to run this place the way you see fit (sometimes grudgingly though). In the long run, the tight moderation and immediate response from the moderators has kept this place an island of civility in a very uncivil sea.

Was on the fence about the bikes until I got to ride them and spend some track time on them in Vegas. That next week, I had put an order down on my CityX and waited 2 months for it to show up. Well worth the wait. Nobody was dealer trading the CityX, and it seemed that we could not get ours fast enough. I make sure EVERYBODY through the door sees the BUELLS, knows we carry them, support them, ride them and service them. I am 100% Prime Time Excited about these bikes.

2 The advice, rides, tech support, and community forums, I use daily, and it is part of my Sales process to show new riders that though we dont have that many, that they are a part of something much much bigger.

3 A place to chat is great, a bike to ride is even better. Love to read the rides and plan my next one.

4 Words are not enough thanks, but I know that I am helping way more people get on these bikes since I found BadWeb . Thanks Blake , Court, and of course Erik

Blake and I are often mistaken for twins . . . the "non-replication" is to protect the Buell population from a mutated Blake-Court virus . . . .that would be a threat to sane persons.

Buell, in 1996, introduced the tiny S-1 in an effort to shake 7'8" Blake . . . didn't work. He went, bought an M2 and began racing the damn thing.

We've become communal glue on the Buell sneaker!

1.) Nope..H-D dealerships are ok and, what we make of it.You need to work at relationships to maintain good ones.

2.)Had my tuber years before coming here.Got my second partly after reading here. But the headlights never seemed to come up until(attentively)a few months ago.I never knew i had bad lighting.

3.)
4.)Yeah,thanks,for putting up with a lot of badness. But the good outweighs the bad me thinks.

Just for perspective, a buddy at work had a parking lot drop of his V-Strom.

Fairly normal damage... snapped clutch lever, broken knuckle guard, broken turn signal, small frame scratch.

One week later, he has tried *6* local Suzuki dealers. None had the part. A couple could tell him right away, two had him on hold for 20+ minutes to tell him they didn't have it in stock, one "is no longer a Suzuki dealer and can't order Suzuki parts", and one he won't deal with because they screwed him on a previous deal (and they probably did not have it in stock anyway).

So he ended up getting it shipped from somebody in MI. $50 lever. $39 turn signal. He didn't even price the knuckle guard, he will keep his broken one.

YMMV, but I am fairly confident I could have a new signal and clutch lever for my 9sx from a Dayton dealer by tomorrow afternoon, and have both of under $50.

This is truly a unique place with unique people. I've never been a chatroom junkie simply because people tend to become screaming morons. In here I read people argue passionately, even combatitively and then say "by the way, are you going to be at March Badness? See you then"

It's a group of people who seem to be more intelligent, more thoughtful of each and still as strident in their beliefs as anyone else. I don't get it, but I like it.

2 and 4

Only once have I used a HD dealership and they told me a Buell rear tire was self balancing and did not need to be balanced.

I don't believe Harley dealers have a lock on poor service. Look around you at society. We are devolving. Rarely do I get a "thank you" from anyone and often no eye contact either. Repair shops are, after all, just inanimate objects filled with human beings. If anyone is to blame, it is the operators and owners that don't set forth specific rules and guidelines for their employees when dealing with customers and then don't follow through in enforcing those rules.

Darn, I saw the title and thought we were going to be ganging up on Blake----I hold him totally to blame for so many of the things I have gone through with my Buell.
It surely is his fault that I am hopelessly addicted to salt-----
racing and spend massive amounts of money(you're not reading this, are you dear??) and of course he is totally responsible for introducing me to the rabble I hang out with.
I say it again, the people I have met because of this bike and this place(Court,Henrik,JB2,Aaron,Ferris,Paul and Paul,Al Lighton,Bob and Deb, the list just goes on and on.) And then the places I have been --and will go. It is,indeed, incredible.
So thanks Erik for the bike and thanks Blake for the place.

I bought my Buell because I admired the engineering. That got "in the door".

Dealership service is marginal at best except for a very special few that really go above
and beyond. Those special few (plus our badweb sponsors) have kept me in parts the last 2+
years.

The Buell community is tighter knit, and the folks at Buell are more accessible than any
group of riders and company that builds their bikes than any I have ever seen.

The list of thanks would go on for PAGES if I tried to list all of the individuals that
have made an impact on my experience as a Buell rider and BadWeB member, but the "short
list" includes: Erik Buell, Blake, Court, Steve_Mackay, No_Rice, Dave_S, Al_Lighton,
Glitch, FireManJim, Budc, Clown, Uly_Wife and I could go on and on.

Thanks for the playground Blake!

Friends can argue until death over something and not kill each other in the process. It's okay to agree to disagree.

Yep, met many good people as a result of this site, and know more than I've met.

Thanks.
