Anyone see an issue with going over?

Can't get the bike into the shop until next week (it's on them, I'm not paying for it), and I'm taking a day trip over the weekend. It'll probably have 1200 miles or so on it before it goes in for the 1000 mile service.

wouldnt bother me if it was mine. You could always change the oil at home and get a rain check for that from the dealer.

I didn't do mine untill 1102 miles. No adverse affects. Me thinks they set intervals on the conservative side realizing that the average person isn't going to go right in at 1,000 miles

Normally I woudln't fret about a few hundred miles, but being the first service, 200 miles is 20% over.

I think I'll let it slide. Unless they can get me in tomorrow (not likely) I don't have a choice.

The biggest issue to be concerned with is oil and tranny fluids. You can do those yourself.

No biggie - there is nothing magic about 1000 miles.

It might be a good idea to check the oil level, before your trip, as oil consumption can be high in the initial break in period.

That is not to say that it is not important to to change the oil and filter as soon as practicable, as there are more metal particles in it now than there ever will be, (as long as the motor is operating properly), and needless to say, they are not doing any good in there.

Your bike will stop running at exactly 1000 miles until the expert harley davidson tech resets it

I had mine done at 1400 miles and did a dyno run after, no problems. I have almost 50,000 miles now.

When I changed my oil at 500 miles, there was a lot of stuff on the oil plugs magnets.
At 1000, there was just as much.
I'm a stickler when it comes to oil changes.
If it were me, I'd go ahead and change the oil, take my trip, then take it in (since it's on them) and let them change it again.
I'm well over 50,000 miles now.
