Does the ECM race chip for an XB12 have a default setting for exhaust and open air box alterations or would it be recommended that I get it remapped ASAP? |

First off it is not a "chip" it is a whole new ECM No, it does not have "settings" It will adjust itself slightly to changes What exhaust and airbox are you planning on running. The remap of course is the best since it is set up to your specific setup and bike. |

"Chip" was figurative. I have a Jardine RT One titanium slip-on. I have an airbox cover with a Ram air intake molded into it. Also, have an open airbox conversion kit w/ K&N filter, tubing to route the breathers from the jugs, catch can, etc... |

I suggest having your stock ECM remapped using DirectLink by one of our sponsors. |

That would be a great idea, but unfortunately none of the sponsors are near where I live. I also already have the race ECM. Would the new ECM remove the engine light thats on, due to the removal of the servo motor? Or would that have to be adjusted as well. I plan on having it mapped professionally of course, but just referring about in the meantime. |

You need a exhaust servo emulator ($45) that tricks the bike into thinking that the servo for the exhaust is still hooked up. It takes 5 minutes to install and I believe American sportbike sells them. This will cure the light problem that you have. |

The race ecm should not be triggering your engine light. Are you sure it's a race ecm? The race kit it was designed for did not have an interactive muffler. It is something else. |

The new ECM is not in yet. I removed the servo motor when I added the slip on and the open airbox. I have yet to add the race ECM. |

So the issue here is whether the Race ECM mapping will be sufficient with your airbox/ECM setup. You'll get plenty of opinions - obviously a custom map is your best bet. I always err on the side of caution, but I guarantee there are plenty of people out there that will tell you they have run similar setups with Race ECM's no problem. Whatever you do good luck! |

Ok, tech question. 2006 XB9SX with Buell Race ECM, Buell race pipe and high flow air filter. Bike "cracked" original ECM @9200 miles. Replacement Race ECM in bike, TPS zero'd, bike will rev to 2500 rpm, hold for 5 seconds then DIES. Never had any runability issues with bike prior to this. WTF ?!? Should I put in the stock ECM and run a power commander or teklusion? |
