Had a somewhat local dealer tell me the 2007 9R is the last of them. Any truth to this? I get the impression many (in a percentage basis anyway) more 12R's are sold than the 9R. By the way, have almost 1200 miles on my '07.... still love her!!! |

It's true. There will be no XB9R in 2008. 2007 is the last year for them. |

Im pretty sure there will be no replacement - so my dealer said - - the buell designs are based on a motard apparently. |

I have just heard that there will be no more Ulysses, Firebolt (XB9 or 12), XB9SX or XB12S next year either Just the Xb12SS, XB12CG and the 'new' model (120bhp liquid cooled) We'll see |

'new' model (120bhp liquid cooled) Yay ! And this is in no way connected with the phone call I just got from H-D UK asking me if I was still interested in a new NEW Buell ?

You're kidding us, right Matt? Why would they discontinue the biggest selling model they've EVER had (the Ulysses)? The local shop here on Long Island says they can't keep 'em on the floor, and to fulfill orders they've had to get them from other dealerships. This in an area with NO legal offroad riding areas (but EVERYBODY drives an SUV). |

Here in England the Uly is about as popular as a turd in a swimming pool, although I did see one once (a Uly that is lol) |

Unfortunately the uLy has not proved popular in the UK or Europe it seems, and dealers are finding them hard to shift. Again it brings me back to my point on another thread about pricing, and the Uly is priced to go head to head with the BMW R1150GS and the KTM Adventure over here, both of which have serious credentials as 'go anywhere' adventure bikes. With the weak dollar you would expect Buell prices to reflect that and come down a bit in the UK, but no not a penny. Here in the UK the Ulysses is priced at GBP8195 or approximately US$16145, yet in the US it sells at US$11495 which equates to GBP5835. So we pay a premium of nearly GBP2500 (US$5000 almost!!!) for the privilege. Then of course they are stuck at the back of Harley-Davidson dealerships, not the usual hang outs for adventure bike riding types. Is it any wonder they don't sell well? |

it is ironic and sad, the praise of the 9R in its' passing they're cutting it because none of you bought one... |

I think the Ulysses is great, but for $16k+ it's amazing they can sell any at all. How much does an R1200GS sell for over there? Here they retail for $14,450- nearly $3k more than a Ulysses. By the way, is anyone else annoyed that it takes no less than 4 clicks to get from bmw.com to the BMW motorcycle website? I can get from buell.com to the spec sheet of a Ulysses in only 3 clicks. |

"Just the Xb12SS, XB12CG and the 'new' model (120bhp liquid cooled)" I wouldn't hold my breath for the 08 LC power plant to be in a street bike. |

Who has the numbers to prove that the Firebolt didn't sell well? What is Buell's slowest selling bike. Wasn't the Firebolt the most critically acclaimed Buell ever during its introduction? |

Comparative prices for the 'basic' models (i.e. no luggage or extras) over here in the UK are: Buell Ulysses: GBP8195 BMW R1200GS: GBP8995 KTM 990 Adventure (ABS): GBP8895 KTM 990 Adventure S: GBP8895 Triumph Tiger 1050: GBP7495 These are 'book' prices and discounts are available on the KTM models if you shop around. It is unlikely you would get any decent discount on the BMW range, and Buell dealers don't discount appreciably anyway. The big difference is the price you can expect when selling it a year or so later. Both the BMW and KTM used prices are very high, whilst the Ulysses price is absolutely rock bottom with serious depreciation(some dealers will not even take them in part exchange!) Guess which one is selling like hot cakes |

I reckon that if a product doesn't sell well, the price will eventually come down until it does. If a dealership would rather fall in love with their merchandise and not lower its price, well, whatever floats their boat I guess. Matt, Where do you get your UK moto sales data? |

I just had dinner with Eric Buell and his wife. He says you're all wrong... Seriously, at this time of year every Tom, Dick, and Harry claims to know somebody who knows somebody who heard rumors about new models of Brand X. It's old. Rumors belong in high schools. |

Harley \ Buell dealers can only discount down if HD \ Buell allows, in which case it applies to all the dealers. In other words, the dealers don't set their prices. HD / Buell set them for them, and all dealers are at the same price as one another. No competition between dealers allowed. Rocket |

Spank: 1 out of 1,000,000 internet rumors might be true about the new models. The rest of the people are either liars or spreading false information. I was referring to the 999,999. |

I don't think that's true. I think HD would like it to be true, but there are price fixing laws which keep them from requiring dealers to charge X for a bike. |

I don't think that's true. It is in England. All our H-D dealers have exactly the same prices for new Buells/H-Ds and they won't budge. You can get them to 'massage' the figures so that the deal looks good, but at the end of the day the price is the same wherever you go. |
