Amazing. Every type of terrain and road, challenging conditions and seven of the region's leading publications are now blown away by the ability of the bike. (I already knew ) Amazing. Fabulously well done by H-D/Buell. Perfect. I didn't get to take as many pics as I would have liked because we were a serious freight train and Lou Martin, the doyen of Aussie photogs was along to capture the event. he got some stunning action shots - will share what I can later. My full set is here - still have to sort them, (not in chronological order yet)but it tells the story. http://www.davidcohen.co.nz/cairns800s/pages/1.htm l |

Dave, if you fell in a tank of crap it'd turn to jam before you hit the surface! Very nice, I'm not as jealous as crusty, but very nearly. |

Why is it that I never get letters like that from Buell? "Hi, I'm Danger_Dave, and I live in a cool place. You can't come here because you can't swim this far. Our cities have the pollution whisked away to Chile by gentle ocean breezes. And our country is soooo friendly that our birds don't even need to know how to fly. Blah blah blah, I'm great and you suck, blah blah blah." ....yeah yeah yeah, we get it. I'd tell you to go fall off the end of the world, but my rudimentary understanding of physics tells me that you should have already done that, given where you are. |

Hey - I got an idea! Let's teach that rascal Dave a lesson for making us all so freakin' jealous! We pool our funds, and send a couple of us 'Yanks' down there and show up on his doorstep, and force him to take us along with him on these epic rides he gets to take! It's MY idea -- so of course, I get to go! Al - (another jealous Badwebber) |

They should give me a TT to test out on the ruffest, potholed filled roads that detroit has to offer! One cruise down Fort Street in Detroit will cause anyone to loose their fillings! Buell, hello!

They (TT) did pretty good in the outback. Paul rode one for almost the entire 1,000km trip and it hammered. I was seeing double on some of the corrugations on the clay roads on the uly and he was right beside me on the TT. The bikes all did remarkably. One Uly went down at highish speed in the dirt (front wheel tucked under brakes), hit a causeway and it busted a blinker and had a few scratches and that was all, few others had low speed drops off road and were unblemished. Some of it was bloody hard going, I was absolutely flying on dirt roads with regular loose or sandy patches and creek crossings and watercourses and exposed rock ledges. Torturous conditions at times, sports bike heaven at others. By the end of it they were all saying 'what a bike!' The crew were all the editors/assitant Eds from 'Two Wheels', AMCN, Trader, Cycletorque, ete etc etc. And me - for Kiwi Rider and as a testament to the benefits of gratuitous self promotion. |

Thanks very much - just trying to keep it real. I said to the other journos over dinner on Saturday night - 'It's great doing this with you guys - I can talk to you about the gigs without you yelling 'B@STARD!!!!' (I cracked them up occasionally - brought the full floor show - the good shtick.) Of course if it wasn't me doing it I'd be yelling the same thing. Tank of Jam baby, tank of jam. Analogy permanently ensconced in lexicon thanks Mr G. (Message edited by danger_dave on May 21, 2007) |

Great stuff. You don't suck. At the moment, my envy won't allow a more positive compliment than that. |
