Hey guy's, I've noticed over the last few rides my clutch seems to slip a bit before it will fully engage. I've done the "high gear roll-on" test in different conditions and can't MAKE it slip...only at the initial engagement. It's an 06 12R w/6300mi...does this sound like a clutch adjustment problem? Maybe worn plates(@6300mi.?), but then wouldn't it slip under load? Anyone have any suggestions? It's still under warranty, but I try to avoid the stealership like the plague. I have the service manual/tools, just not enough V-twin knowledge. BTW I installed a set of Conti-Road Attacks...WOW what a difference over the Dunflops. I figured if the tires did that much for the bike I'd spring for the Lyndall Gold pads too, they are traveling from American Sport Bike as we speak(type?). Thanks AL, a pleasure to deal with you fella's. (Message edited by RidrX on May 17, 2007) |

That looks like a woman's engagement ring. Aren't you a male?... |

Mine will studder and slip after a full day of mud boggin, but I really think that may be my hand fatique too. As far as the ring goes... I can spell engagement, that is as close as I will get to it. riding dirty, fast and single |

Buellshyter: When you get engaged isn't it the man who gets the woman the ring... Yes, that's true but the bride to be is not making the post - the groom is. If I said, " I dyed my hair blue a couple of weeks ago" I wouldn't post a picture of my wife's red hair. In any case, I knew what he meant. I was just pulling his leg. |

That's a bad analogy. Guys usually don't get engagement rings therefore if he took a pic of his own hand it would be ringless. ANYWAY Are you a clutch rider or do you abuse it trying to wheelie? And does this slippage only happen when the bike is cold? Are you 100% positive it's the clutch that's slipping? |

No wheelies, stoppies, burnouts, racing or other abuse. Maybe slightly worse when cold, not much. No, not 100%...hence my request for input from those smarter than me. I mostly feel it pulling away from a standstill, but if I'm getting on it it will do it a bit when I shift for a half second or so. I use the recommended Formula+ fluid and use the clutch on every shift if that helps. |

Could it just be the lull in power that exists on stock Buells at a certain RPM range? Or does the engine seemingly rev higher than the acceleration warrants? I mean do you notice the rate of acceleration slow down even as it sounds as though the engine revs jump higher? |

Nah, haven't really ever noticed a "lull" in power. Doubt the dealer checked the clutch adj. at the 5k service, just didn't think it would slip that much so soon since I don't ride all that hard. |

You need to adjust your clutch. It's in the service manual and is super easy to do. Mine did the same thing around 6500-6800 miles. It's also a good time to lube up your clutch cable as you'll be adjusting it at the same time as your clutch. |

Tdiddy, Thanks. That's what I figured but I wanted a second opinion. I'll get the wrenches out tomorrow and rectify the situation. |

I was engaged for about 2 months, then she called off the wedding due to cold feet. Brought her dress back, lost tons of cash on hall and chapel deposits, what a waste! Oh well, I guess I just spent over 8 grand on a ring and 2 grand on deposits for nothing. Should have bought another Bike instead! |

When I was 21, my girlfriend sold me on what a good idea it is for us to get married. She was 18 and just out of school. I went home and told my mom what we were planning. Her advice was "DUMP HER! SHE"LL RUIN YOUR LIFE. Do you think she'll let you hang with the guys at the track and mot get pissed?" Mom was right. We broke up later that year when I wouldn't take her to the Winter Nat's in Arizona. |

I concur, adjust the clutch, too easy. If I had to choose between a life with my wife or being able to hang with guys at the track whenever I wished, it is no contest. The wife wins every time. Lucky for me, I don't have to make such a choice. In fact, I'm headed out to the track right now. |

You're a lucky man, Blake. I've been on my familys 'next to get married' radar for some time now. It's always interesting hearing good stories cause it seems a bunch of my married buds say the exact opposite. I've had the ring for over a year now. CAN'T GET MYSELF TO PULL THE TRIGGER. |

Remember, love is temporary. Alimony is forever! If you get married don't be stupid. Get yourself a prenuptial agreement...unless she is loaded! |

Blake, BIG +1. Been married 11 years and wouldn't trade a day of it for anything. Bads1, The post was actually about my clutch lol. As to your question ..no, she does not ride, however she encourages me to, and accompanies me to the few events I am able to get to. Clutch adjusted...problem solved. Thanks for the input guy's. |

Wow a bunch of happily married guys...wait, isn't that an oxymoron?! Just kidding. It's good to see there are some 5 percenters out there that do have a happy marriage. |
