At 7,700 miles on my '06 Firebolt, I replaced the front pads with the Lyndall Gold pads. What a piece of cake to install. I love working my XB! Anyway, I followed the break-in procedure to the letter. Afterwards, I went on a 300 mile ride in the mountains and deserts of SoCal. Wow! I'm impressed. These pads are better than the OEM's in feel and power. The improvement is immediately noticeable. It's now easier to trail brake into corners as it's easier to feel the brake pressure. Plus, the pads emit thise really cool, high pitched whooshing/whining sound (not squealing). It does generate a bit more brake dust but that's easy enough to wash off. They also look a bit odd as they are completely coated in this gold dust finish. As of today, we are now shipping The Lyndal Gold Plus instead of the regular Lyndall Golds. They are very similar to the original golds, in that they are a non-sintered pad with a very progressive "the harder you squeeze the harder you stop" feel to them. Keith (Dark Horse Moto, Skully) and I have been running the prototypes for a while now and are suitably impressed. The instructions say that you don't need to bed them in like the others. Me, I did anyway, and recommend the same to everyone else. In your initial bed-in, you want both heat and pressure to avoid glazing the pads. Maybe the new formulation is resistant to that glazing, I dunno. But I'd still use the old method myself. Price and link is the same. Al | ||

I don't post here often as about everything I've discovered about my Uly has already been covered. I will say, though, that I just put a set of the "NEW" LRB Gold Plus pads from American Sport Bike on the front of the Uly and since it didn't specify any type of break in, I just rode it. I've got about 1k on them so far and they are fantastic. No glazing or any other issues noted and they act exactly as everyone else has discussed. Very linear. Not grabby at all and that weird whirring. One of the best things I've yet done to the bike. | ||

I just put my set of Lyndall's on today. Per the packaging no break-in. Improved the feel and travel of the brake lever tremendously over stock. Great upgrade. I also put EBC's on the rear and it seems to have given a little more bite and alot more feedback to the rear brake. | ||

Any other suggestions for rear pads (which EBC's)? I'm still running stock rear pads, I'd probably stop better if I drug my boots. | ||

I was just looking at the Lyndall Gold Plus last night. This thread really helped me out...as I had some questions about them. I'll be ordering these bad boys in the next week or so. | ||

Fitted Lyndal Gold rear pads to my XB12s, 06 model. Installation very simple and break-in almost immediate. Have 150 miles on them now and they've made a huge improvement to both feel and stopping power of the rear brake. Still requires a fair bit of pedal pressure but nowhere near as much as before. Highly recommended. |
