Oh...it'll never make it here to the states. If it does the dealer network will suck, the parts distribution will suck. And the nerve of them touting an air cooled engine. What are they, now trying to copy our superior Xbstt? Theirs doesn't even have side plates! How can you do a motard and not have sideplates? Of all the unmitigated gaul! There....i think i got all of the thoughts that badwebbers can post. |

Sick riding for sure, but if I wanted a street bike to look like a dirt bike, I'd buy a dirt bike or an enduro. Bla! |

Cool. Still like the 1098 better though. Thanks for sharing. Dude could ride too. There's no way I'll ever have my XB sliding sideways into turns like that. I'd like to learn though. Can I borrow somebody's XB to practice? (-: |

I like the mirrors and the toggled display. That is fun to watch Reuben Xaus ride too! |

I'd rock the crap out of that thing! I've wanted a motard for quite a while now. I want so many bikes, but it's to bad I can only ride one at a time. (Message edited by Olinxb12r on May 11, 2007) |

Ducati just hit a home run, no doubt! The innovative mirrors rock! The larger more powerful engine can't be a bad thing. Just 3.3 gallons of fuel capacity might be the only negative for the machine itself. Xaus' sliding one-handed tire smoking display is killer. |

That is one sweet ride. I could be tempted....... The "beak" front styling that seems so popular in Europe is hideous to me, but with that kind of performance who cares... |

"Ducati just hit a home run, no doubt!" Home run? That's a grandslam that left the park and landed in a freightcar headed for Cucamonga. |

At least with my XB when I go to change the spark plugs and accidentally break the plug wire I don't have to wait a month like my brother to get new wires on his 600 monster. |

Ducati will make bank on aftermarket parts alone... who's gonna be first with the Hypermoto handguards/signals/mirrors on an XB? |

So the S is pretty close to the same price as the base 1098. Well, that is a bit of a disappointment. |

Great rider. Bike, OK. I rode the new 07 multistrada "S" has the same engine and shocks/forks similar if not the same frame and seating, and only a few pounds heavier. fun, but not as fun as an XB. IMHO its not a motard. Too heavy. Buy a real motard. Husky 510 SMR comes to mind. take a look @ the specs. Claimed specs from sites. Ducati HyperTard Wheelbase 57.28 inches 90 hp @ 7750 76ft lbs @ 4750 Dry lbs 395 MSRP 11500 /"S" 14000 (Good luck on buying a Duc @ MSRP) Buell XB12 Wheelbase 12R 52 inches (STT 54 inches) 103 hp @ 6800 84ft lbs @ 6000 12R dry lbs 395 STT dry lbs 400 MSRP 12R 10500 STT 10300 Husky 510 SMR Wheel base 58.8 inches HP? enuf Tork? enuf Dry lbs 264!!! MSRP 7800 Ducati Dealer: Can you imagine? 90 horses and 75 ft lbs! And less that 400 lbs! What would you do with that?!?!? Me: I ride it to work every day. I would bet that those Ducati HP and torque specs are for a chassis dyno. The Duc air-cooled engine is no slouch. At 1100cc it should be pretty darn close to the XB12 performance level. Let the game of leap frog continue. All us moto-enthusiasts can only win. Next major leap... July? |

Man, watching him backing that Duc into those corners is almost too much to take. That looks and sounds friggin' awesome! I love that smokin' rear tire as it howls for mercy. (Message edited by debueller on May 12, 2007) |

Realize that if new bikes are announced in July (dirt and or "hypersport") that dealers will not have them in July. Only dealers that complete the training for the new models will get them. This happened when the XB's first came out, so it took awhile for all of us to get them in. I hate waiting, but the schedule of the dealer meeting already has me excited. Buell isn't a small part of the H-D general session anymore. They have their own. Only the future will tell what that means. I always have my hopes high, but I doubt I'll be let down this year. Buell and H-D both have new stuff brewing, and it IS going to be Buell's 25th anniversary after all. Josh |

The bike looks very fun, but it's fugly. Oh and that guy is wrong. The 1098 is the Ducati of the year. It's the Ducati of the decade so far and one of the most important models in Ducati's recent history after going from the beloved 998 to the disaster that is the 999. Oh and that mofo can ride! It just sucks that supermotos are too tall for short guys like me! |

Interestingly, there is a school of thought these days that suggests the 999 is everything it was meant to be. That is, a great successor to the 916 genre. Looking back, I'm one that didn't much care for its looks when it was launched, but when I see one now I see the 999 as way ahead of its time, and well in tune with todays styling cues. If the 916 genre had never been, I'm sure the 999's would be lauded as the greatest thing since sliced bread. Rocket |
